OVERVIEW
Art of Peace Tyler, TX is a citywide celebration of the United Nations International Day of
Peace, September 21, with arts-based events that promote Compassion, Creativity and
Community. In 2016, events will include live music, film, poetry, visual art, speakers, community
service, a peace pole installation, an open-table community meal, a peace vigil, yoga, meditation
and childrens art activities. Each year Art of Peace - Tyler selects an inspiring theme and a
community organization to showcase and support. The 2016 theme is Paths to Peace: Journey to
Wholeness, and the 2016 Peace Honoree is the Samaritan Counseling Center of Tyler, Texas.
The 2016 visual art show, sharing the title, Paths to Peace: Journey to Wholeness, is presented in
cooperation with the Tyler Museum of Art. Juried art in response to the theme will be displayed
at the Tyler Museum of Art in Tyler, Texas, from September 17-25. A reception for artists will
be held at the museum, on the last afternoon of the show Sunday, September 25 at 4 p.m.
with a short program at 4:30 p.m.
The jury for selection will consist of members of the Art of Peace - Tyler committee and
representatives of the Tyler Museum of Art. The jury has the option to select up to 2 works per
artist for inclusion in the show (artists may submit up to 3 works for consideration). Works
selected will be displayed in the Tyler Museum of Arts lobby and classroom/adjunct gallery.
SPECIFICATIONS & INSTRUCTIONS

Artists must be over 18 years of age and reside in Texas.


Entry deadline is Friday, July 31, 2016. Entries received after midnight July 31, 2016, will
not be accepted.
Works in all media are eligible, provided they can be juried by digital image. These
include Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Photography/Digital Media, Sculpture, Mixed Media,
and Fine Craft (wood, metal, clay, fiber, glass).
Artwork should relate to the 2016 theme, Paths to Peace: Journey to Wholeness, including the
concepts of peace of mind, emotional well-being, completeness and process.
Size Restrictions: Artwork must be able to fit through a regular-sized doorway.
Works chosen must be finished, dry, and ready to exhibit.
Artists submission must consist of:
3 high quality digital JPEG images of each proposed work please clearly label all
materials. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope if you submit by mail and
want your CD returned. Each artist may submit 3 pieces of art.
A description of each work that includes title, media, size and description
Artist CV or rsum and contact information
Submission Instructions:

ARTWORK IMAGES
It is very important that your images represent your work as accurately and professionally as
possible. Artists must submit images as JPGs. Art of Peace - Tyler reserves the right to
reproduce art work images of accepted entries for promotion of the exhibition in the media.
SALES
Tyler Museum of Art does not allow art sales on the premises. However, given artist permission,
guests will be provided with names of artists and selected contact information. Visitors who wish
to purchase artwork can contact the artist directly regarding a sale after the close of the show.
INSURANCE
The Tyler Museum of Art will insure exhibited works from the time of their safe arrival at the
Museum until they are returned to the artist, for the insurance values indicated on the entry form.
Insurance values will correspond with the demonstrable fair market value of the work. The details
of the insurance coverage are addressed in the final loan agreement for selected works.
AGREEMENT
Submission of an entry to this exhibition constitutes agreement on the part of the entrant to the
conditions set forth in this competition. Pieces should be available for the September exhibit.
