Revolutionary War Tours

Ever wanted to visit some major battle sites of the

Revolutionary War? If so, the places listed in this
brochure are for you! Visit Bunker Hill, Valley Forge,
Coochs Bridge, and Massachusetts on this once in a
lifetime, history connecting travel experience.

Coochs Bridge, Delaware

Coochs Bridge (Iron
Hill) is where the
first American Flag
was flown in battle
on September 3,
1777. The Stars and
Stripes flag was
adopted as our
national flag on
June 14, 1777. Although the original bridge did not survive,
there are many other bridges surrounding the area of the
original bridge.

Bunker Hill, Massachusetts

----X

The Battle of Bunker Hill took

place on Bunker Hill (Breeds
Hill), in Massachusetts. This
battle was fought on June 17,
1775. There were 2,400 British
troops fighting against 1,500
American troops. Although most
people consider this a loss for
American troops, but is now
considered more of a turning
point in the war. This battle
showed the ability of the
American Continental Army to
fight oppression, and ignited hope in everyone on the homefront.

Boston, Massachusetts
During the American
Revolutionary War,
Boston was a major
focal point. The Boston
Massacre was held in
Boston on March 17,
1770. The Boston Tea
Party was held in the
nearby Boston Harbour
on December 16, 1773,
protesting the tax the
British government placed on tea. The Port of Boston was closed
because of the Boston Tea Party on March 31, 1774. Massachusetts
was declared in rebellion by the government of Britain on
February 9, 1775. Lots of events during the Revolutionary War
occurred in or around Boston, Massachusetts, making it a great
destination for history fanatics.

Valley Forge
----X
Valley Forge is a very important campsite of the American
Continental Army. George Washington and 11,000 of his troops
camped in Valley Forge for the winter in 1777. Although the
troops set up camp here, the conditions were way less than
favorable. There was a very limited food supply, and many
soldiers did not have protective winter clothing. Because of
this, many soldiers died during the winter at Valley Forge.

Packing List
Because most of these events took place during the
late fall/early winter, it will be best to visit these
places during this time. Make sure you bring lots of
protective winter clothing so you dont end up like
some of Washingtons troops. Although food should not
be scarce, pack some light snacks that wont go bad
easily. Pack many pairs of thick pants and many long
sleeved, warm shirts. While the technology now is much
different than it was back then, some of the places we
will visit while on this trip will not have heat. Make
sure to bring a warm sleeping bag so we can camp just
like the did at Valley Forge. Dont forget good closed
toed climbing shoes, preferably multiple pairs. Pack
whatever personal items you may need, just be aware
that some of the places we will visit will not have
indoor plumbing. With that, I hope all of you enjoy
your trip to some of the historic sites of the
Revolutionary War!
