Multiple Intelligences (MI)
Howard Gardners Theory of Multiple Intelligences informs much of the practices at Riverside. Essentially,
Multiple Intelligences theory states that everyone thinks and learns in different ways (i.e., via different
intelligences), not just linguistically or logically. Multiple Intelligences will be divided into several sessions: MI
theory in-depth; the eight intelligences; the impact of MI in the classroom The Pathways Model, an approach
that connects the theory to classroom practice.
How MI is implemented at Riverside (Interest Centers; Clubs) At the conclusion of this workshop, teachers will be
able to design sessions that incorporate Multiple Intelligences within the classroom, such as hooks, assignments,
and assessments.
The Mahatma Gandhi International School is an educational project that promotes holistic learning. The emphasis
is on learning rather than teaching
school follows the Cambridge International Primary Programme for classes 1-5, the IB MYP Programme for classes
6-10 and the IB Diploma Programme for classes 11-12
There are no exams until 10th grade and there are no uniforms
It has activity based teaching. There are no punishments either.
World Education Summit Award for Innovation in Teaching Pedagogy
Mahatma Gandhi International School, Ahmedabad is ranked as the No. 1 International School in Gujarat by the
annual EducationWorld India School Ranking 2012
The school has its own philosophy; the pedagogy of exchanging knowledge makes this school unique.
Session with Dr. Pascle Chazot & Prof. Anju Musafir Chazot: Both Anju & Pascal are educators who founded the Mahatma Gandhi
International School in 1999. They both train teachers in helping children learn what is meaningful and purposeful in ways that are
joyful. This leads to authentic learning, empowerment and compassion in the learners.
Riverside is the amalgamation of an approach to learning that is embedded in common sense. It is a vibrant
research center for school education, where insights from cutting-edge research are turned into working models of
pedagogical practices with a single-minded focus: student wellbeing. Over the last 11 years, Riverside has
developed, implemented and shared a unique curriculum that is proving to be the benchmark for providing a nocompromise school education of the highest quality.
Riverside School is ranked 2 day school in India by Education world 2014.
Initiatives: 1. Through aProCh (a Protagonist in every Child) the school has taken design to the city of Ahmedabad,
making it the first child-friendly city of India. This initiative has now spread to different cities in Gujarat. 2.
Through Design for Change, Riverside has taken design thinking to the world. This initiative of the Riverside
School has spread to over 35 countries across the world.
All India Winner in two categories: Parental Involvement and Individual Attention.
About founder of The Riverside School; Kiran Bir Sethi is an Indian designer, educationist, education reformer, and social
entrepreneur. Sethi became an Ashoka Fellow in 2008. Her initiative Design for Change was the winner of the most prestigious
design award, INDEX Design to Improve Life Award, in Copenhagen, Denmark in September 2011 and she was a recipient of The

In 2006 there was no sewerage connection, no street lights, no pucca roads and, of course, no source of income for the gram
panchayat except the grants and funding from various state and Union government schemes. So motive behind this visit is to
understand the Administrative practices.
Ten participating schools with some best/unique educational practices (chosen by Team Mind Mingle) will get opportunity
to present a 10 minute paper. Every school is unique with at least one educational practice; why not take an advantage to

Archana Sanil- Director & Trustee, Chief Mentor IRA Global School, Maharastra
Coming for this trip has been a great experiece .From the onset, it was a very well conceived idea. Certainly conferences and
seminars are not as inspiring as experiencing change, seeing innovation in practice.
The schools you chose were very well picked and trips there were really thought inspiring. I complement you for so smoothly
arranging for sessions with founders of the schools
Other arrangements were equally good. Above all your personal involvement, enthusiastic participation and personal care to each
individual was wonderful.
You have started with a BANG . Keep it up - Ritu Kohli- Principal, Eicher School, Faridabad, Haryana
Congratulations for initiating a program for school Principal's which in a subtle way cajoled the learner in each of us. It was a perfect
blend of sharing best practices and engaging in problem resolution. Your personal touch to ensure constructivism is noteworthy.
