Transgender Restroom Executive Order Statement

The Obama Administration recently ordered every public school district in the United States to
allow transgender students to use the restrooms that match their chosen gender identity. This
order gives students whose parents have identified them as transgender the right to choose the
restroom they will use. CCISD is committed to ensuring that all students are safe and protected
from discrimination and harassment. The District is in the process of assessing recent and rapidly
developing issues in this area and will take actions to make sure that its policies and practices are
consistent with the law and the best educational practices to ensure all students can be educated
in a safe and welcoming environment.
Current Board Policy states that gender based harassment is not allowed and includes any
activity that
1. Affects a student ability to participate in or benefit from an educational program or activity,
or creates an intimidating threatening, hostile or offensive educational environment.

Has the purpose of effect or substantially or unreasonably interfering with the students
academic performance , or

3.

Otherwise adversely affects the students educational opportunities.

No person shall be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to
discrimination by any district that receives federal financial assistance, on the basis of any of the
following protected characteristics:
