Skill Set
Once you start work as a model maker you may receive on-the-job
training. Some qualifications you may need are as such: Level 3 (NVQ)
Diploma in Engineering Woodworking, Pattern and Model Making.
Short courses in a range of new techniques like 3D printing and laser
cutting are now available through a wide range of organisations.
A strong interest in art,
Design and technology the ability to visualize designs in 3D,
IT skills the ability to read,
Understand plans and technical drawings practical skills,
To use hand and power tools

Starting from 19,000 a year and experienced model makers can earn
23,000 to over 30,000 a year.

Animator
Animators must produce images that appear to come to life on
screen. Their work is found in feature films, commercials, pop
videos, computer games, websites and other media. They may
work with drawings, specialist software or models and puppets,
capturing separate images of each stage of a movement. When
the images are viewed at speed the character appears to move.
