Storyboard Artist
A storyboard artist visualizes stories and sketches
frames of the story. Quick pencil drawings and marker
renderings are two of the most common traditional
techniques, although nowadays Adobe Flash, Adobe
Photoshop, and other storyboard applications are often
used. Meet with creative supervisors to discuss
objectives of storyboard; what is desired or to be
achieved. Create storyboards by implementing
storytelling objectives. Follow instructions of creative
supervisors. Ensure quality and style of show is
consistently achieved in storyboard work.
No training can really be done the person just has to be
good at drawing, telling a story and meeting deadlines.
All of which can be taught but the person just has to be
naturally good at them.
Skill Set
Be able to tell a good story
Be highly film literate, with a good understanding of
layout, composition, sequential drawing and editing
Have excellent drawing skills and the ability to adapt to
a wide range of styles
Be able to work either independently or as part of a
team
Be able to take direction, and be prepared to make
changes to your work in response to constructive
feedback
Be able to follow established designs and produce
consistent work, drawn on model
Have good communication and presentation skills
Have good computer literacy
Be familiar with relevant storyboard, graphics and
editing software
Be conscious of any relevant technical or budgetary

Rigger
Character riggers are experts at manipulating the
geometry of characters in their interaction with
environments. Character riggers may also help develop
tools for animation production processes, collaborate
with modelers and animators, and develop new
techniques to solve character production challenges.
Available online but can also be self-taught. The training
is delivered as 63 videos, with each session focusing on
a single area of the rig. Each subsequent chapter builds
on lessons learned in the earlier videos. An included
index lists the topics covered for easy referencing. Also
included are the scene files for the start and end of
each session so you can follow along and jump in at any
point along in the training.
Understanding of physics and anatomy.
Creativity, precision, and an eye for detail.
The most common degree path for aspiring character
riggers is a bachelors degree in computer animation
with a character rigger concentration.
