One of the significant experiences that I learned in NFDN

2005 related to the CLPNA competency the family influences
on child health promotion is very critical in order to
accomplish the best outcomes, therefore it is very essential to
include the family when caring for pediatric

In this course I have learned. It is very essential to deliver

holistic patient focus care, however in order to achieve this I
must ensure to have parents involvement. For example in order
to implement the process I must record the data that I will be
obtaining from the baby, since the baby or toddler does not
have the cognitive ability in that particularly stage to
implement the intervention. However I must ensure that the
parents to implement the intervention for the baby. Learning
this competency is very crucial, whether I will work in various
departments within the hospital. For instance if it happen to
work to emergency unit I will taking care for children as
patient, and that will be the time where I will be able to apply
the nursing process. Having this knowledge will be very
meaningful for me, because knowing that I must incorporate
the parents in order to make the outcome positive and very
successfully.
Good: Understand competency in theory and in scenarios and
nursing practices. In order to achieve the competency i read the
textbook prior to class and study with group. In addition attending
lecture and reading my note as well.

In order to be able to provide the best care to my client I must

be able to apply knowledge and ability to assess the baby and
also to include the parent when I will be performing
assessment on the child. I will apply my knowledge of prenatal
care currently as student nurse when working in pediatrics
unit. For instance when performing assessment to the child I
must follow the protocol of my scope of practices. The future
practice I will use the skills that I have learned and apply it to
my nursing practice by teaching the parent of the child, since
their role play significant in their care of child that I will be
providing them and be able to work as team with my coworker to deliver best care to the patient, as well as gaining
knowledge through experience and ongoing new skill that
might have to learn to enhance my knowledge or to keep
myself up to date by reading nursing journals article and
attending conference for nurses according to my scope of
practices that I must be compliant with.
