The Murder of Captain

Cornball
By: Annabel, Emily, Ellie, Citlalli

Crime Report
The police arrived at 7:55, and he was pronounced
dead at 8:00. Someone attends Norma Nanny who cut
her hand with broken glass. At 9:30 the police
determined two types of blood on the knife, one
belonged to Captain Cornball and the other was
unknown.

Evidence
-Fingerprint
-Shattered Glass
-Knife
-Blood sample from knife
-Hair sample on the murder weapon
-Threatening Note
-Possible Pens Used for the Note

DNA: PCR Test

-tested specific locations of regions of DNA which vary between people
-used PCR amplify certain locations on the DNA
-used process called gel electrophoresis to separate DNA fragments by
size
-regions were labeled with dye to make them visible
-compared patterns from lab with patterns gathered from the crime
scene
-matched with CC, SS, and NN

DNA Fingerprinting: Phenotype

-fingerprint found on a piece of broken glass at scene
-lifted print using fluorescent powder and lifter film
-since it is a fluorescent lift, it will need a microlight as the light source
-compared print to prints taken from suspects at crime scene
-matched with Sam Stubs

Blood Type Analysis

-Blood samples from each suspect were given to police for investigation
-Found O on and A on samples from the crime scene
-CC was of course stabbed so we suspected his blood to match and we
were correct, he has O
-Since NN was only one to have an open wound we also suspected her
to come in the experiment, again we were correct as she matched the
other blood type being A

Threatening Note:
When we went to the crime scene we found this
note on a napkin with black writing, stating ur a dead man.
We brought the note into our lab and tested the ink. Our
results came out that the pen belonged to both
Sam and Norma. We feel that they collaborated to
commit this murder.

Thomas Sandstone = Captain Cornball

-Cornballs history- released from prison with a different name and
many children by many different women
-Sandstones history- has changed name before, went to prison for
murder, 4 children with 3 different wives
-both stories support each other

Fred Fleckstone
-Related to victim: Son

-Had motive because his dad killed his sister and aunt and caused him
to change his name

-Fred Fleckstone was not linked by DNA or to the pen on note found at
the crime scene

Glen Glendora
-Related to victim: Son
-no chromosome disorders

-Glen Glendora was not linked by DNA or to the pen on note found at
the crime scene

Theresa Thyme
-Related to victim: Neice
-She has down syndrome so this could cause her to act out in an
unusual way. Many people with down syndrome are diagnosed with
compulsive order.
-Not associated or linked with DNA evidence or note found in the crime
scene.

Sam Stubs
-Related to victim: Stepson
-Peebles Sandstone could have been murdered by Captain Cornball
without Sam Stubs knowing
-Another motive: Sams mother had an affair with Captain Cornball
while his father was dying from Huntingtons disease. Sams brother
(result from the affair) was put up for adoption because of Captain
Cornball. Wanted revenge for pulling apart his family.

Norma Nanny
-The ink of her pen matched the ink found on the note
-Gregs daughter Nina had an affair and a child with Thomas (AKA CC)
-Her daughter was put in a special home and had no chance of release
after the death of Nadia
-In love with Captain Cornballs son, Fred
- Captain Cornball killed Freds sister and aunt so Normas motive was
to bring revenge on Freds part

Summary
-5 suspects were investigated

-Theresa Thyme, Glen Glendora, and Fred Fleckstone ruled out due to
not being linked with evidence nor having an obvious motive

-Leaves Sam Stubs and Norma Nanny

What really happened

These two suspects worked together in the killing. Sams fingerprint was found on
the glass that was broken at the crime scene and Normas blood was also found
at the crime. The ink on the threatening note was also tested and matched to a
pen belonging to Norma Nanny and Sam Stubs. When the sky darkened Sam
broke the glass as a distraction while Norma killed Captain Cornball. Normas cut
was a result of her searching quickly for the knife in the dark during the distraction
to kill Captain Cornball.
