Classroom Expectations

Each class created their own norms. Basically include:


Follow directions
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself
No cursing, teasing, or name-calling
Respect yourself, respect others, and respect your
learning.

Course Overview

The content for this course relates to the history of the


United States from pre-Columbian times until 1865.
Students will study historical and geographical analysis
to explore the early history of the United States and
understand the ideals that strengthened the union.

Approximately 2-3 tests per quarter

Approximately 10-12 assignments per
quarter

Late Work

Students are permitted to turn in work late.


Assignments will be reduced 10% for each class period
the assignment is past due.

Test Re-Take

Students may retake tests if they or you are not happy


with the grade.
Usually done after school on Tuesday (activity busses)

Absent

Students who are absent are responsible for getting


make-up work from me upon return to school.
Homework assigned the last class attended is expected
to be turned in upon return to class.

Extra Help

Students may email me with questions about classwork


and homework
I am also available most Tuesdays to stay after school
for help if arrangements are made at least one day in
advance.

Helpful Hints for Studying

Have a well-lit, quiet place to study


Make sure appropriate materials are provided
(highlighter, notecards, sticky notes, etc.)
Study 20-30 minutes each night
Study a small part of the study guide each night
Make note cards
Use a folded sheet of paper
Use apps like StudyBlue and Study Stack
