Ms.

Parlings Kindergarten Class

Behavior Plan
Kindergarten B.E.S.T. Rules
BE KIND We will use nice words and actions with everybody.
RESPECT We will treat everybody the way we want to be treated.
SAFTEY We will walk and keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
PROPERTY I will be careful with all things in our classroom.
These are the rules I expect every child to follow in order to have a learning environment
where everyone feels safe. We will be using a color coded behavior system in our
classroom.
BLUE = Outstanding!
PURPLE = Great Job!
GREEN = Ready To Learn
YELLOW = Warning
ORANGE = Thinking Chair (Time away from activity to think about choices made)
RED = Thinking Chair AND miss 5 minutes of recess or play time
* Everyone starts the day on green/Ready To Learn.
* If a child makes a poor choice, they will be asked to move their clip off from green to
the yellow/Warning.
* If a child makes a second poor choice, they will be asked to move their clip to
orange/Thinking Chair. They will be removed from the activity to spend a few minutes in
the thinking chair to cool down and think about their choices. They will return to the
activity cooperatively after a few minutes once they are calm and ready to join the class
again. Before joining the class, they will talk about their behavior with the classroom
teacher or paraprofessional.
* If a child makes a third poor choice, they will be asked to move their clip to the
red/Stop. They will be removed from the activity to spend a few minutes in the thinking
chair to cool down and think about their choices. They will return to the activity
cooperatively after a few minutes once they are calm and ready to join the class again.
Before joining the class, they will talk about their behavior with the classroom teacher or
paraprofessional. Poor choices resulting on red/STOP will also result in 5 minutes off
from recess time.

* If a child makes an exceptionally good choice, they will be asked to move their clip to
purple/Great Work. They will be acknowledged for their exceptional behavior.
* If a child continually goes above and beyond they will be asked to move their clip to
blue/Outstanding. They will be acknowledged for their exceptional behavior. Rewards
will vary, but may be a phone call home, a simple note in the students planner, or the
ability to pick an item from the classroom treasure box.
You will find the color coded behavior system on the East wall of our classroom.
