2 PAMOKA. MY FAMILY
My family is big. My parents live in Derby. They are already retired but they have
a little farm of horses and they take care of it. Derby is famous for horse racing.
I have two brothers and a sister. Im the youngest in my family. My eldest
brother Sean lives in Australia. He is married to an Australian woman Barbara.
They have two kids, two sons. They are my nephews. My brother is a
programmer. He owns his company. Barbara is a dentist. She works in a private
clinics. My nephews are still at school but they want to come to England to study
at university. I meet Seans family just once a year. Australia is really far from
England to meet often. Its a little bit pity to meet them so rarely. I miss them
a lot. We communicate via Skype or Facebook.

The plane took off at quarter to ten and landed in Edinburgh at eleven. There is
no direct train line to the city center so we took a taxi to get to the city center.
It took us about half an hour. We reached The Point Hotel Edinburgh. It is a
three star hotel in the city center. Its a stylish hotel with 139 rooms. At midday
we had lunch and were ready to start our work.

Many people dislike flying. Sean and George are such. Airports and planes make
them stressed. I agree that jet lag and lost luggage can spoil your mood but in
general I like planes, airports and travelling. I check in on line if I have only
hand luggage. I check in at the airport if I need to check in my luggage. At the
airport I try to get through security as soon as possible. I find my gates and then
enjoy coffee or visit duty free shops. Of course when the plane is late it annoys
me. I try to have a book or magazine with me to spend time. When the flight is
cancelled it is bad. It is important to have travel insurance. In such cases
insurance covers your expenses. The most pleasant thing at the airport is to see
the sign boarding. It means you show your documents to the airport employees
and go to the plane. Taking off and landing are not always very nice but they
are short. On the plane you can read, sleep, listen to music and have some meal.
When you reach your destination, disembarking starts. It means you leave the
plane and begin your visit in another country or town. Sean and George were
very happy when the plane landed. I was happy to see them smile again!

All people have different eating habits. Some people lead healthy life style and
some people like eating junk food. People who lead healthy life style eat
regularly. They start with breakfast and eat every two hours. They dont eat
snacks. They dont drink Coca Cola or other soft drinks. They drink fresh juice
and herbal teas. Such people use lots of vegetables and fruit. They buy
expensive fish, meat and better quality dairy products. People who dont eat
meat are called vegetarians.
I am not a vegetarian. I like meat a lot. I always eat breakfast. I know it is
healthy. I never refuse junk food especially if I am in a hurry. On weekends I
try to cook. I prepare soup, salad and sometimes steaks. In most cases Franco
and I like to go out for dinner. Of course eating out is more expensive than
cooking at home but then you dont have to do the dishes and you can always
change environment and discover new places in the city. You can taste different
meals and try new flavours.

8 PAMOKA. CULTURAL
DIFFERENCES AND SIMILARITIES
Every country and nation has its traditional food. Each country is very proud of
its national dish. While travelling people try to know about countrys cuisine.
Every country is different in using special ingredients and spices. South countries
have a lot of fresh vegetables and fruit. North countries eat more meat.
Countries that are on the sea shores can have much fish and sea food. No matter
how different countries are they use almost the same crockery and cutlery. They
are plates and soup bowls, forks, knives, spoons. Chinese and Japanese people
use chopsticks instead of forks and knives. People drink tea or coffee and they
use cups and mugs. If they drink coffee from a cup sometimes they use a saucer
and put a teaspoon on it. People drink juice and other soft drinks from a glass.
Every country can surprize a traveller by offering a special dish however it wont
surprize much in cutlery and crockery used in everyday household activities.

9 PAMOKA. SHOPPING
Today is Saturday. Today is the day off. I dont have to go to work. This weekend
I dont have to prepare any reports for BBC.
I woke up at 9am. I watched current news on TV. At quarter past nine I got up
and went out to jog. I met Franco and we both were jogging for about one hour.
Later I returned home, took a shower, changed and again went out for breakfast.
During our breakfast Franco and I decided to go shopping.
I dont like shopping. I hate long queues at the check-out. It is usually difficult
to find a parking place. Shops are usually crowded, its always hot and you forget
what you want to buy.
Anyway Franco wanted to buy a new pair of shoes, a jacket and some T-shirt.
Franco is very fashionable and wants to look up to date. He wants to prepare for
spring season.
Shopping was successful. Franco was very lucky to get everything he wanted.
We bought some food for dinner and returned home. While shopping we met our
friends Alan and Vicky. We invited them to have dinner in the evening at my
place. We spent a nice evening together while chatting, watching TV, eating and
having fun. I love weekends especially Saturdays since on Sunday morning you
dont have to get up early.

10 PAMOKA. MEDIA
I hope that you remember my profession. For those who dont remember it Ill
remind. I am a journalist. I work for BBC.
More often I start thinking about the use of television. It is a very powerful tool
to get information. It can change a persons life in one day, however watching
TV becomes a bit of waste of time.
You can find all current information on the internet. Internet is available
everywhere. It is enough to have a cell phone and you can contact the entire
world by pressing one button. You can use Youtube for watching short movies
about history, travelling, cooking, and medicine, whatever. You can even watch
movies as long as you send them to your computer by internet.
Modern television presents itself on the internet as well. All soap operas are
available on the internet. Sitting on the sofa and watching TV becomes luxury.
People dont have much free time. They are busy at work. They try to spend
their free time outside or going in for sports, travelling or doing something. They
simply dont find time for watching TV. I think that the main audience for
watching TV is retired people. They have more free time and can afford that.
To be honest I watch TV very rarely. I even do not switch it on as some
background. I better listen to music and have some rest from big amount of
information.
