Math DP Update

Generating ideas
For this year generating idea for my projects have always been a struggle to find my
own interest inside math as a whole. This second semester I was forced to conjure
ideas for final exhibition . For final exhibition, I choice to create an infographic
poster on Piecewise functions to present to the classroom. The struggle I found with
this whole project was finding my own personal skills and interest in something that
I had never found them before. This put me in as interesting situation. My personal
interest, cycling and photography, had little noticeable mathematics embedded in
it. This put me in a hard place. I had to just choose some topic and go with it to
continue with this project and move on from using something I care about to
incorporate into my work.
Communicating thinking in a clear and accessible way
Communicating and organization are two things that have been a challenge for me
this year. Not just in a mathematical setting but in generally throughout the year.
My thought needed to be organized before I could continue into a progressive path
for the school year. In the classroom I saw my sturgles to organize my idea and
thoughts when working on explorations and seminars. I noticed that the ideas and
methods I used to put down my thoughts were scrambled and un original. When I
would start to work on these problems I noticed that my results we dry and lacked
any new approach to solving. By solution was think how each I could break it down
into its basic functions. And solving it in newer ways.
Recognizing and resolving errors
I understand that I am not the strongest mathematician but I do think that
quantities I have with problem solving and critical thinking give me the edge I need
to complete and progress through this year's problems in the classroom. I recognize
that I don't give the classroom the credit it deserves that my effort level and grade
reflect that. I do think I should have seen this issue before the semester continued
instead of seeing it in hindsight. In the future I will make sure to predict my own
future and make it my reality.
Reflecting and synthesizing
This year in class I found myself disconnected from math and the real world
situation that they were represented. I see the relationship but don't often embrace
it or accept it. I ve always seen algebra as a disconnection from the real world.
Maybe that was the source of confusion and failure in this class. In future I need to
make and establish these connections. With context it would be easier to work
through and solve in a more creative way. Maybe I'll find importance and
understand how equations and functions play in most real world situations. When

working with the majority of the explorations I didn't see how applicable the solution
were to general problems or sistation.
