Thewealthoffewcomesfromthepovertyofmany,hundredsofcompaniesprofitoffthe
painandsufferingofsubsaharanvillages.ThewartornareaofSouthAfricahasbeeninneedof
assistanceontheconcerningsituations,fromwartofoodshortagesandallofoursolutionstothe
problemhasbeeninvain.Thereareavarietyofideasthoughtuptomendtheimmensedamage
thathavebeendonetotheeconomyofsubsaharanAfrica.Africanslackofwealthand
resourceshavebeennegativelyimpactedfromoutsidecountries,andcorporationsthathave
corruptedtheirsocietybecauseofselfishpersonalinterest.
TherootofAfricasdecreasingeconomyhasdifferentcausessuchas,Corporations,
Worldwideinfluences,andInnercontinentalsituations.AccordingtoRobinsonandAcemoglu
Theonlyjobsblackscouldtakeinthewhiteeconomywereasunskilledworkersonfarms,in
minesorasservantsforwhitepeople.Sucheconomicinstitutions,whichwecall'extractive',sap
theincentivesandopportunitiesofthevastmassofthepopulationandtherebykeepasociety
poor(AcemogluandRobinson).HowcanAfricansexpecttheircountrytobecomebetter
economicallyiftheirlawsdontgivethemthefreedomstodoso.Africanjobsatthispointin
timehaveaverypoorincomesothisforcesthemtonotbeabletofullyprovidefortheir
families.Thepeopleinpoorcountrieshavethesameaspirationsasthoseinrichcountriesto
havethesamechancesandopportunities,goodhealthcare,cleanrunningwaterintheirhomes

andhighqualityschoolsfortheirchildren(AcemogluandRobinson).Aperson'sgoalisto
increasethequalityoftheirlifewhetheritbeincreasefinancially,physically,andmentally.The
comparisonsbetweenpeopleinAfricaandpeopleinAmericaarenotthatdifferent,everyhuman
wantstobettertheirlifestyle.ButunlikeAmerica,Africagoesthroughmanytrialsand
tribulationsthathinderthemfromthriving.
TheepidemicofpovertyhasaffectedcommunitieswithinAfricadifferentlybygiving
themvaryingobstaclesforinstance:disease,thelackofresources,andapartheid.HIV/AIDSis
changingtheprofileofruralpovertyinAfrica.Itputsanunbearablestrainonpoorrural
households,wherelabouristheprimaryincomeearningasset(RuralPoverty).Diseasesand
viruseshavechangedtheneedsofafamilyfromfoodandsheltertotreatmentandmedications
whichlowerstheirstatureinacommunityandputstheminastateofpoverty.Thepovertyrate
ishighamongblacks.Blackhouseholdsearnonaverageonlyonesixthofwhatwhite
householdsearn.ThismakesSouthAfricaoneoftheworld'smostunequalnationsintermsof
income(AHeroicLife).Apartheidhascausedseparationandsegregationforthepeopleof
Africapropertywiseandincomewiseandthishasloweredinvalueandhaspushedtheblack
populationintoafinancialdepression.Africanswanttohaveabetterlifebutdonothavethe
civilprivilegestodoso.AlthoughAfricahasmanyproblems,organizations,andoutside
countrieshavetriedtosupportthemintheireffortsofregainingstability.
ManydifferentgroupshavetrytofixtheongoingsituationinAfricafromdifferent
companiesthataretryingtofixitallthewaytodifferentthingsthatcanbedone.ONEisa
grassrootscampaignandadvocacyorganizationbackedbymorethan2millionpeoplefrom
aroundtheworldandeverywalkoflifewhoarecommittedtothefightagainstextremepoverty

andpreventabledisease,particularlyinAfrica(Top10NonProfitsFightingPoverty).If
companiesandotherpeoplecouldrealizethattheycouldmakeanamazingdifferenceandstart
puttingitintoaction,thenhopefullyotherpeoplewouldalsostarthelping,itcouldstarta
worldwidesolutionandmaybeeventuallyfixtheproblem.Overcomegovernmentfailure.By
governmentfailure,Idontmeanthatgovernmentsareeviloreventhattheyareincompetent
orillintentioned.Analogoustomarketfailure,governmentfailurereferstoasituationwhere
theparticularincentivesingovernmentleadtoasituationthatisworsethanwhatwasintended
withtheintervention(WhatWillItTaketoEndPovertyinAfrica?).Therehasbeentimes
wherepeopleactuallyhavetriedtofixtheproblembuttheydontknowwhatthesolutioncould
be.Whichintheendmakestheproblemworsethanitwasbeforetheirintervention.
UltimatelyAfricasstateofpovertyisatragicandunfairconsequenceofthedecisions
fromthedifferentcauses.However,thismayonlyseemtoaffectAfricaitactuallycauses
difficultiesworldwide.Thereforepeopleworldwideareobligatedtohelpthemthroughthis
situationsinceoutsidecountriesarepartoftheproblem.ThepainandsufferingofAfrican
victimscanbehealedthroughoutsidehelp.Thereareprogramsthatdonatetofamiliesand
childrenofneedsuchas:UN,FAO,andUNHCRforonlyadollaraday.Thesupportofoutside
countriescanhelptofixtheproblemthathasplaguedAfricaforsolongbutifpeoplecontinueto
disregardtheneedsofAfricanstheywillremaininperil.
