Galai (Romanian pronunciation: [alat ts] ( listen); also known by other alternative names) is the

capital city of Galai County, in the historical region of Moldavia, eastern Romania. Galai is the
largest port town on the Danube River.[2][3] In 2011, the Romanian census recorded 249,432
residents,[1] making it the 8th most populous city in Romania. Galai is a major economic centre
based around the port of Galai, the naval shipyard, the ArcelorMittal Galai steel plant and mineral
exports.
