    Theassignmentsthatbestdemonstratemylearningandimprovementsintheseparticular

    byAnneFadiman,andCardiacarrestresearchproject.Beforeworkingonanyofthese
    projects,IhadnoknowledgeofhealthritualsofotherculturesotherthanAmericaandKorea,
    andcardiacarrestdrills.Iwasalsoveryquietinclassandneverhadthecouragetoaskquestions
    orspeakinfrontofclass.Butbyreadingthebook,Igotachancetolearnaboutthehealth
    traditionsofHmongculture,acultureIwouldhaveneverknownabout.NotonlyIlearnedabout
    theirhealthbeliefs,IwasabletocompareAmericanhealthsystemtothem,whichhelpedmeto
    broadenmyviewsofdifferentculturesandtheirdifferentbeliefs.Throughparticipatingin
    inclassdebate,notonlyIlearnedaboutOSHAandwhatitprotects,Iwasalsoabletolearnhow

    toformallydebateinclass,infrontofclassmates.Talkinginfrontofclasshasalwaysbeena
    hugestruggleforme,aswellasparticipatingindebates.Butfromhelpofmyteammates,Iwas
    encouragedandinfluencedbythemandwasabletoperformwellduringthedebate.Regardless
    oftheresultofthedebate,Ifeltgoodabouttalkinginfrontofeveryone,whiledebatingwiththe
    oppositeteam.IcanproudlysaythatImnolongerafraidofspeakinginfrontofclass,butthe
    ideaofdebatestillscaresmeinside.Participationpointsinclassalsohelpedmetoimprovemy
    participationskills,becauseasItalkedinclasseveryweektoearnpoints,thelessIwasscaredto
    talkinfrontofeveryone.Lastly,cardiacarrestresearchprojecttaughtmehowtoperformthe
    emergencydrilltosomeonegoingthroughcardiacarrest.Byparticipatinginthisresearch
    conductedbystudentsatUofW,Ilearnedhowtheresearchconductingprocessisdoneandhow
    tocomeupwithsurveyquestions,aswellashowtointerviewpeople.Throughslideshowson
    suddencardiacarrestinclass,Ilearnedhowtopreparemyselfandforothersbylearningthe
    symptomsanddrillsclosely.
    Forthelastremainingterm,Ihopetolearnmoreaboutcardiacarrestandresearch
    processbycontinuingtoparticipateintheresearchprojectwithUofW.Also,justlikemygoal
    inFallterm,Ihopetoenhancemycriticalthinkingbyinvestigatingdeeplyintotopicsratherthan
    justskimmingthroughthegivenassignments,becauseIfailedtoachievethisgoalduringmy
    Winterterm.Ihopetoachievemynewgoalsandwalkoutoftheclasswithfullknowledgeof
    health,humanrightsandhappiness,afterSpringterm.
