Haveyoueverthoughtofaworldwherethereislimitsonfreedomofspeech?Where
everyonehaslimitsoncertaincasesandtheycannotexpresseverythingtheybelieveinbecause
thererestrictions?Freedomofspeechisprotectedbythefirstamendmentonthecontributionof
theUnitedStates,thisrightgivespeopletheopportunitytosayanyopiniontheymighthave.
Thereshouldnotbeanyrestrictionswhenitcomestofreedomofexpressioninanycasebecause
thatiswhythereisthefirstamendmentandithasnorestrictions.
Tobeginwithfreedomofspeechshouldnotbelimitedinanycasebecausepeoplefought
battlesinordertogettheirfreedomofspeech.OnTheSkokieLifeitstates,...TheACLUhas
foughtandwonmanybattlestoprotecttherightsofJewsandotherminorities....(2).Thisquote
supportstheclaimbecausetherewashardworkputin,inordertoprotecttherightoftheJews
andothers.TherestrictionsshouldofbeenaddedthatsamedaythattheACLUwonthebattles
notnowaftersomanyyearsbecausethebattleswerenotfoughtfortheirtobeachangeafter
manyyears.AsDubeystatedthateveryoneshouldbeabletolistentoeveryone'sideasandatthe
endtheycanalwaysrejectitoracceptit(2).Thismeansthateveryoneshouldhavetherightto
speakandattheendpeoplecanalwaysbuildupfromtheideaorrejectit.Itdoesnotharm
anyonetolistentoeachother'sideasitjusthelpspeoplegrowandbeopentodifferentideas.To
concludetheACLUfoughtbattleinordertoobtainfreespeechandeveryoneshouldbeableto
expresstheirideassofreedomofspeechshouldnothaverestrictions.
Anotherreasonwhyfreespeechshouldnothavelimitsisbecauseeveryonehasa
differentwayofviewingthingsandiftheysharewhattheythinkwewillallgrowasaperson.

grantdifferentstandingtodifferentsortsofpeople(5).Thismeansthatitisimportantforthere
tonotputanendtofreedomofspeechbuttoseethedifferentstandsofpeople.Thisisan
importantstatementbecausethereisnowaypeoplewillgetsmarterorbeopenmindedifthey
arenotabletolistenandtobuildonothersthoughts.OnthewebsiteDebate.orgshowshow
peopleareexpressingwetherornotthereshouldberestrictionsonfreedomofspeech.Thisisa
greatexampleofwhyfreedomofspeechshouldhavenorestrictionsbecausepeopleexpresstheir
opinionsandwhattheybelievein.Bypeoplebeingabletoexpresstheiropinionstheyarebeing
themselvesoverallUnitedStatesisacountrywherethereisfreedomandiftherearerestrictions
itwouldnotbefreedomanymore.
Lastlyfreespeechshouldnotberestrictedinanywaybecauseinsteadofmakingthe
UnitedStatesabetterplaceitwilljustcausemoreproblems.AsJahanpourstateson

meansthatpeopleshouldknowtheirlimitsandshouldknowhowtotreatoneanother.This
quotecouldbeforandagainsttheclaimbecausealthoughthisquotesaysthattherearelimitsit
alsosaysthateveryreligionhasitsdignity(Francis1).Franciswouldbewrongbecausethe
terroristsandthosewhowishtolimitfreedomofexpressionbyviolentmeansshouldlearnthat
farfromforcingotherstosilence,theiractswillbackfireandwillhavetheoppositeeffect
(Jahanpour7).Thismeansthatiftherearerestrictionsitwillgobacktopeopleneedingtobe
silentandinsteadofhavingacontrolofwhatpeoplecouldnotsayitwillcausethemtoget
angry.Peoplewillendupcausingmoreproblemsbecauseitwillgobacktowhentherewasno
freedomofspeech.
Overall,freedomofspeechshouldnotberestrictedinanycircumstancepeopleshould
havetherighttoexpresstheirthoughts.Thereasonwhythereshouldnotbeanylimitswouldbe
becausetheACLUfoughtbattles,peoplegrowastheyhearotheropinionsanditwilljustcause
moreproblems.Bylimitingfreeofspeechpeoplewillnolongerbeabletosaywhattheybelieve
innorwhattheythinkisrightinotherwordstheywouldnotbeabletobewhotheyareasa
person.
