overlookingthedifferentpartsofconflictinsidetheRashtriyaSwayamsevakSangh
(RSS),whichistheumbrellaunderwhichmostallotherNationalistgroupsfall.Hindu
Nationalism,orHindutvaisconcernedwithtwomaintopics:questionsofidentityin
smallgroupsthatlinksthemtothelargercommunityornation,suchasreligionandwant
foraGreatIndia,whichisrespectedaroundtheworld.ThisisthemostindepthsourceI
havetothispointandisveryonpointwithregardstoitstopic.Sinceitisfrom2006,itis
hinderedalittlebywhathaschanged,butthenmakesupforitintheindepthanalysisof
itstopic.Thesourceisdefinitelytheretoinformusandtellusaboutthegreatworkings
oftheRSSanditsformasasortofinterestgroup,akintotheNRAinitssize.Itcan
frequentlybecaughtinthemiddleofconflictsfromitssmallergroupssuchasduringthe

stronglyontherelationbetweentheRSSanditspoliticalarmtheBharatiyaJanataParty
(BJP).Thisrelationcansometimesbestrainedandthenatothertimesmucheasier.There
arenostonesunturnedasthetwogooverpropagateHinduNationalisticfeelings.They
alsodiscusshowtheVishwaHinduParishad(VHP)hadcomeintoconflictmanytimes
withtheBJPamongmanyissues.TheywerethepeopleinvolvedinAyodhyaandalso
representthemostrightwingHindusofIndia.Thesourceitselfisimmenselyhelpfulasit

isrelevantforallcurrentissues.Ibelieveitisreliablesincethesearetwooutsidepeople
whohavenoreasontocarefortheRSS,BJP,ortheVHP.Italsoisreliablebecausethe
informationdoesnotseemverybiased,tryingtoshowbothsidesoftheargument.As
mentionedinotherannotations,HinduNationalismisakeyparttothisargumentbecause
itisveryimportanttothecurrentoverarchingissueofHindu/Muslimconflict.Itwillbe

secularwarriorsarenobetter,andsometimesworse.Heseestheirbiggestissueas
selectivesecularism.ThesepeoplewillcondemnHindusasbloodthirstyandbigoted
oppressors,andhatetheBJPsomuchthattheydontwanttoalsoholdtheCongress
membersaccountablefortheiractions,orwhenfundamentalistKashmiriswanttoimpost
ShariaorMuslimlaw.Hesumsuptheideainonesentencethatthistypeofselective
secularismmakestheHindutvapeoplestronger.Hislastparagraphhitsthehistoryof
riotsandactionsagainsttheminorities,butthenalsotalksaboutpolitics.Hecitesthe
caseofShahBanoinwhichaMuslimwomanwasgrantedalimonyandmaintenance
afterdivorce,howeverthePrimeMinisterofthetime,RajivGandhi,usedhispartyto

RamJanambhoomiweremainstreamtopics.TheBJPgainedmembers,andthesecular

groupscanbeabigot.Gujarat,whichhadconsistentlyvotedBJPinitsstateelections

thiswaveofriotswithlogicandpeaceandfraternity.Itwillbeextremelyhelpfultonot
justpinblamefortheseeventsontheRSS,butalsoonthesecularwarriors.
