4. Write out all possible Punnett Square(s) to predict your babys blood type. Explain
why multiple squares were or were not necessary. Multiple Punnett Squares were
necessary because the father has type A blood. Having type A blood means that there are two
possible combinations that express type A blood. The two combinations that express type A blood
are heterozygous and homozygous dominant. However, type AB blood only has one combination.
5. From the baby lab (Note: Do NOT attach your lab data to this. Instead, explain the
information as requested)
a. Choose 4 traits that are inherited by basic autosomal dominance or recessiveness.
Traits that are inherited by basic autosomal dominance or recessiveness
include: Face shape, chin size, chin shape, and cleft chin. Face shapeGenotype (Aa) this is heterozygous. Chin size- Genotype (Bb) this is
heterozygous. Chin shape- Genotype (Cc) this is heterozygous. Cleft chinGenotype (Dd) this is heterozygous. Our babys phenotype includes a
round face shape, a very prominent chin size, a round chin shape, and a
present cleft chin.
b. Choose 1 trait that is inherited by incomplete dominance. A trait that is inherited
by incomplete dominance is hair type. This is considered to be incomplete
dominance because hair type can represent a blend of two traits. Our
babys phenotype was wavy hair. Our babys genotype is (M1M2).
c. Choose 1 trait that is polygenic. A trait that is polygenic is skin color.
Polygenic means that there is more than one gene for a trait. Polygenic
inheritance worked to give our baby her phenotype because three
dominant alleles were present which gave our babys phenotype, medium
brown skin color. The genotype for our baby was (EE Ff gg).
