Purpose

These Defensive Line Hit Progression Drills help


to teach and work on taking on the contact
correctly with full body control.
Description & Coaching Points
1. Coach holds football on ground
2. Defensive Linemen on knees and toes, hands
in crotch, sitting on heels.
3. Coach snaps the football
4. Defensive Lineman gets off on snap, hand
shiver pad
5. Throws hips, arch back, head up!
6. Hips should be end up on sled pad
7. Knees should come off the ground
8. Go three times

Hit, Hit, Hit

Shiver sled pad using hands and arms only
Take three good shots with locked elbows
Dont take a step

Step and Lockout


1.Same as Hit, Hit, Hit but with a six inch
step
2.Strike the pad with locked elbows
3.Hands and foot hit at the same time
4.Dont stand up, take three shots

Lockout, Hip extension


1. Sit on heels with toes under you.
2. Arms relaxed hands in crotch
3. Strike pad and extend your hips to
pad
4. Force should bring knees off the
ground.

Fire out with feet back


1. Fire out from a good stance
2. Leave feet back in starting
position
3. Face on pad and lockout arms
4. Force will cause you to land on
belly

Fire out and snap feet


1. From a good stance fire out into pad
2. At the same time you lockout, snap feet
under you
3. Dont move sled
4. You should end up in a good hit position

Fire out and snap feet, chop feet


1. From a good stance, fire out and lock
out
2. Simultaneously snap and chop your
feet in place
3. Dont drive sled, stay in hit position
4. Keep
