Important mainly because of the people in

the conversation

Dear Educator,
CONGRATULATIONS! You have been selected to be a part of the 2016 Code.org Computer Science for
Middle School Science cohort for Utah. Your application demonstrated leadership and a commitment to
bring computer science to your community. We are very pleased to have you as a trail blazer for
expanding Computer Science in Utah.
ACTION STEPS TO TAKE:
1. You want to let your administrator know that your application was a success! This helps them with
planning for room assignments, access to technology, and student enrollment for next year.
2. You want to MARK YOUR CALENDAR for the SUMMER TRAINING WEEK, JUNE 13 17, 2016. Please
note that this training week is imperative for the program, and that you need to be present every day for the full
session to maintain your spot in the cohort. This training will be held on the Wasatch front, and we will be
communicating more details about travel, lodging, etc. in the near future. Mark your calendars for this
commitment.
3. You want to email me your mailing address. We have a package for each of you that welcomes you to
this experience that we will be sending out in March. This also serves to confirm your space and commitment
to the cohort.

Finally, over the weekend, the White House added its support to this grassroots movement, announcing
a plan to help every student in Americas public schools learn computer science, especially girls and
underrepresented students of color. This is a big deal. The Computer Science for All initiative proposes
$4 billion in funding and additional support for training teachers to bring computer science to students.
Watch the presidents full remarks here.
You are a part of this vision for Utah students. We couldnt be happier about the bipartisan support for
computer science, and we want your help to show the local support for this movement:

and we will be in touch with more details in the near future.
