Cut up a few lines from the story and reconstruct them to make sense
Follow along reading the words in the story for shared reading.

Have worksheets ready for handing out
Have big book ready to read with pointer.
Have scrap books ready on desks to glue work into- need
literacy books.

- Give step by step instructions
- Constantly walk around the room helping those
that are having difficulty
- Have one student hand out sheets

Have students come and sit down on the mat.


Tell students to pay attention in particular to the story layout.
Lesson steps:
Read the story, pointing out the worksheet along the way.
Show students the worksheet and read it together. Give students instructions
to cut the worksheet up, mix up sentences and then place back together in
the correct order. Once a teacher has approved the order, students are to
then glue them into their workbooks neatly!
Have a student hand out the worksheets and have students walk back to their
desks in two groups, perhaps boys and girls?

The students are to fill out worksheet, glue them into scrapbooks and early
finishers are to colour uncoloured pages in their book.

Have students each read individually and tick along where they have read
words correctly. Dot for incorrect.

Children are then able to move to the mat for modelled writing.
