Students have been reading the story one cold wet
night and have reconstructed the story yesterday and
since answered the questions yes or no, about which
characters are in the story and have written in their
journals the subject, on a cold wet night.

As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:

Finish the sentence in their journal, If I was a farmer.


Think creatively about what they might do on a cold wet night and express this through their writing.
Children are to write neatly and clearly with good sentence structure to ensure all makes sense.

Have writing books ready on their desks.
Have modeled writing of my own ready to read to the class.
Write If I was a farmer on the board.

- Give step by step instructions
- Constantly walk around the room helping those
that are having difficulty

Have students come and sit down on the mat.


Ask students to think about what they might do if they were a farmer.
close your eyes, imagine you are a the owner of a farm, what kind of farm will
it be? Is it a rainy farm? A windy farm? A dairy farm? A wheat farm? Think
about what you might have to do as the farmer and what you might enjoy
most.
Go through creative answers with children to help them think about what they
might do.
Lesson steps:

Have the students move back to their desks this time blondes first, then
others.
Children are to take out their books and start their sentences with If I was a
farmer remind students to start sentences with a capital letter, finish with a
full stop.
I will also be looking out for proper finger spacing and very neat writing.
Students to write in their journal and to be finished by 11. Those who finish
are to sit in partners on the mat somewhere knee to knee and read their
stories to each other. When finished they are to find another partner.

Choose two neat stories to be read to the class. Point out creativity and
neatness.
