(How to be a better Citizen)

Section 1: Citizenship Overview:

The dictionary definition of
citizenship is the fact or status
of being a citizen of a particular
place. However citizenship means to
me the ability to be part of a
nationwide community and being able
to share the joys and opportunities
of being American with so many different people. Citizenship also
means responsibility. By being a citizen you also have multiple
responsibilities to fulfill such as jury duty, voting , and overall
being a good citizen.
In order to be a good citizen you must be active in your community.
Good citizens are people who are aware of what is going on in their
community. Good citizens see problems that need solving and correct
them by exercising their rights through public policy.The great
beauty of America is laws can always be changed or reformed in order
to better citizen's lives, however the citizen must bring the problem
to the governments attention.

Section 2 : How to Act like A Citizen

Good citizens are citizens who vote. Voting is an
extension to citizenship because citizens are the
only ones allowed to vote. Voting is both a right and
responsibility and should be fulfilled. If you do not
vote, you do not have a say in the government.

In order to vote in Ohio, you must first register to vote. There are
a list of requirements you must meet. They are as follows.
Requirements to vote:
18 years or older
US citizen
Be an Ohio Resident for at least a month
Cannot be imprisoned for a felony
Cannot be declared incompetent to vote
Cannot be permanently disqualified due to election violations

Political actors are people who you usually go to to incite
political change. Some political actors in Ohio are John Kasich
,governor of Ohio,Mike DeWine, Ohio Attorney General, Jon
Husted, Ohio Secretary of State. Each of these men can be

Active citizenship can be found in many forms. Personally the most
important form of active citizenship to me is volunteering.
Volunteering is such a selfless act and can really benefit your
community. Whether you volunteer at a hospital , or volunteer to
clean up parks, donating your time to benefit your community is a
great sign of active citizenship.

Section 4 : A Message to the Reader

Global citizenship means that you identify with the world as a
community. By being a global citizen you are aware of what is going
on in the world and have political views and beliefs that extend from
being an American citizen.
