1. The golden rule in KP is that Planet is the source of a result, Constellation (Star) indicates nature of a
result and Sub is the final and deciding factor of a result. Thus KP is nothing but applying Three Step Theory
(Step1: Planet Level, Step2: Starlord Level, Step3: Sublord Level) to judge an event wherein Planet is less
superior then Starlord & Sublord; Starlord is less superior than Sublord; and Sublord is supreme being more
powerful than Planet & Starlord.

If Starlord is benefic (favorable) and Sublord is also benefic (favorable), then the native will get
positive results towards fructification of an event;

If Starlord is malefic (unfavorable) and Sublord is also malefic (unfavorable), then the native will
suffers to get positive results towards fructification of an event;

If Starlord is benefic (favorable) and Sublord is malefic (unfavorable), then apparently it may seem
that the event is going to take place, but eventually it will not materialized;

If Starlord is malefic (unfavorable) and Sublord is benefic (favorable), then after some obstacles or
hindrances, the event will take place.

2. KP involves 3-Step Theory, but the application process at 3 different levels (Planet-Starlord-Sublord) will
makes the difference. And the application process at 3rd Step (Sublord Level), according to the nature of
event; stellar position of planet; and presence of node(s), will ultimate to follow the treatment or application
process of Three & Half Step Theory (Back to Pavilion Method) wherein Sublord has both power to give
results of self or its starlord.

3. Sublord alone will not enact an event; but sometimes it alone is useful. It depends upon the nature of the
query. In all sort of events which can be repeatable in life, we have to follow Three & Half Step Theory (Back
to Pavilion Method). In an exception of the following life events, we have restricted to follow 3-Step Theory
only.
a. Longevity In case of judging longevity, there is no treatment at Sublord Level. We have to use that
planet which is present under Sublord Level. The main reasons is that in life, death cannot be
occurred twice; hence there is no treatment of Sublord Planet, whether tenanted or not, whether
node or not. We have to simply use that planet according to its Significators.
b. Child Birth - In case of judging child birth, there is no treatment at Sublord Level. We have to use
that planet which is present under Sublord Level. The main reasons is that after delivery of a birth, a
child will never able to enter in mothers womb; hence there is no treatment of Sublord Planet,
whether tenanted or not, whether node or not. We have to simply use that planet according to its
Significators.
c. Divorce In case of judging divorce, there is no treatment at Sublord Level. We have to use that
planet which is present under Sublord Level. The main reasons is that after we cant marry to the
person to whom we get divorced; If such instance will occur, we will take it as a part of re-union;
hence there is no treatment of Sublord Planet, whether tenanted or not, whether node or not. We
have to simply use that planet according to its Significators.
Note: Apart from that if you feel that nature of query will not repeatable in life; you may restrict yourself to
follow 3-Step Theory only. However, exceptions are always present. A research is going on from our side in
case of longevity whether to restrict 3-Step or to follow Three & Half Step; which may finally informed later.
Significators
We all aware of order of the Significators in respect to
(A)
(B)
(C)
(D)

Planet in occupants star;

Occupant;
Planet in owners star;
Owner.

These are the general order of Significators which are applicable in all cases. Apart from that we have
Conjunction & Aspects.
(E)

Conjunction A planet in conjunction with or by a significator(s) will give the results of the house or
houses denotes by that significator(s). At three different levels, there is there is a different application
process for the treatment of conjunction. There are two types of conjunction category;

Planet(s) in conjunction with a house

Sometimes a planet is situated in a particular house and in conjunction to the next house with an
Orb of 3 degree 20 minutes. If such planet is untenanted, the he will able to give result of next
house too.

Sometimes a planet is situated in a particular house and in conjunction to the next house with a
Platic Conjunction (same star) or Rapt Conjunction (same star & sub). If such a case; that planet,
whether untenanted or not, will able to give result of next house too.

Planet in conjunction with another Planet(s)

A planet in conjunction with another planet may treat according to the Orbit of Influence. It may
be Rapt, Platic, Orb or within sign conjunction. Following are the treatment of planets for
Conjunction according to Orbit of Influence a. Sun and Moon
b. Rest Other Planets except nodes
c. Node Planets

- within 8;
- within 6;
- within Sign.

(F) Aspects A planet aspected by a significator(s) gives the results of the house or houses denotes by the
significator(s). Aspects are treated as weaker significators in KP Astrology; hence last preference should be
given to the planet aspected by significator(s). However, if a significator(s) planet is having stellar strength
i.e. untenanted, his aspects are important. For Inner Planets 7th aspect is important and for Outer Planet
special aspects (for Mars 4 & 8, for Jupiter 5 & 9, for Saturn 3 & 10). At three different levels, there is there is
a different application process for the treatment of Aspects.

If there is confusion regarding selection of significator(s), it is the cusp and cusp alone,
which will comes as rescue and solve your problem.
Apart from (A), (B), (C), (D), (E), (F) significators, there are 2 more types of significators which is more
important and should be used if there is any confusion regarding selection of significators. They are
(G) Cuspal Sublord (CSL) Note the planet(s) who having stellar strength (PS) i.e. untenanted in chart. Note
that planets appeared as the Cuspal Sublord (CSL) among I to XII cusps. Suppose that planet is the CSL of 7.
Then treat that planet as the strong significators of 7th house too along with significator houses present under
(A), (B), (C), (D), (E), (F) significators;
(H) Cuspal Starlord (CSTL) Note the planet(s) who having stellar strength (PS) i.e. untenanted in chart. If
that planet is not present among any house(s) of I to XII cusps, note that planets appeared as the Cuspal
Starlord (CSTL) among I to XII cusps. Suppose that planet is the CSTL of 11. Then treat that planet as the
strong significators of 11th house too along with significator houses present under (A), (B), (C), (D), (E), (F)
significators.

4. Stellar Position of Planet(s) A planet can be classified into two categories,

a. Untenanted A planet having stellar strength i.e. PS (positional status) is termed as Untenanted
Planet. This can be sub-classified into two categories
Purely Untenanted Planet when there is no planet in its star;
Likely Untenanted Planet when a planet is in self-star or in a self-star & sub and no other planet(s)
in its star.
According to Three & Half Step Theory (Back to Pavilion Method) whether a planet is purely
tenanted or likely untenanted, we use the term as UNTENANTED and this planet prior to the
significators of (A), (B), (C), (D), (E), (F), may equally capable to gives results of Cuspal Sublord (CSL)
or Cuspal Starlord (CSTL), as the case may be, wherein it is present among the cusps of I to XII.
b. Tenanted - A planet having no stellar strength/PS (positional status) is termed as Tenanted Planet.
5. Rahu & Ketu as an agent Rahu or Ketu is not allowed the ownership of any sign. It only occupies the sign
in a house. So Rahu or Ketu works as agent or representative of:
a. The planet with whom it is in conjunction or aspect;
b. The owner of the sign in which it is placed.
Note: According to the Three & Half Step Theory (Back to Pavilion Method), a Planet, whether untenanted
or not, is bound to gives results of it starlord in preference. Whenever a node is present among I to XII cusps
Sublord, then it is treated as planet at 1st Step (Planet Level). Thus Rahu or Ketu, being a planet at 1st Step,
gives results of its starlord in preference along with results of planet(s) that they are agent. At 2nd Step
(Starlord Level) and 3rd Step (Sublord Level), Rahu or Ketu will not bind to gives results of its starlord. They
can give the results of those planets by whom it is in conjunction or aspect. If neither in conjunction nor
aspected, it will give results of its signlord. It may be further noted that if Rahu or Ketu deposited in a sign
alone is very powerful. It may gives results in a twice way. Firstly of its sign lord and secondly by whom it is
in conjunction or aspect.
6. Rahu & Ketu as Significators Rahu or Ketu is stronger than any planet. So if Rahu or Ketu represents any
significator planet, it should be given first preference in place of that significator planet.
TREATMENT/APPLICATION PROCESS OF THREE & HALF STEP THEORY (BACK TO PAVILION
METHOD)
A. Planet Level (Step 1)
Note the planet whether tenanted or untenanted or node;
If tenanted planet but not a node, then take significators as
a. Occupation;
b. Ownership.
Note: Planet, whether untenanted or not, is bound to gives results of it starlord in preference. Hence for a
tenanted planet, conjunction & aspect is taken as weaker significators and thus not to be considered.
4

If tenanted planet, being a node, the take significators as

a. Occupation;
b. Treatment of planet of which node is agent. Check that planet whether tenanted or untenanted. If
tenanted, take only occupation and ownership. If untenanted planet, takes occupation and ownership
along with Cuspal Sublord (CSL) or Cuspal Starlord (CSTL), as the case may be.
If untenanted planet but not a node, then take significators as
a. Occupation;
b. Ownership;
c. Rapt or Platic Conjunction of house;
d. Cuspal Sublord (CSL) or Cuspal Starlord (CSTL), as the case may be;
e. Aspects in a very rare and exception case has to considered, otherwise in 99% cases, has to be
ignored.
If untenanted planet, being a node, then take significators as
a. Occupation;
b. Ownership;
c. Cuspal Sublord (CSL) or Cuspal Starlord (CSTL), as the case may be;
B. Starlord Level (Step 2)
Note the planet whether tenanted or untenanted or node;
If tenanted planet but not a node, then take significators as
a. Occupation;
b. Ownership;
c. Conjunction of planet(s) according to the Orbit of Influence.
Note: Aspect is taken as weaker significators and thus not to be considered. However at Starlord Level, in
an exceptional case, if starlord planet being tenanted and aspected by an untenanted planet, he may carry
& produce the results of that untenanted planet.
If tenanted planet, being a node, the take significators as
a. Occupation;
If untenanted planet but not a node, then take significators as
a. Occupation;
b. Ownership;

C. Sublord Level (Step 3)
Note the planet whether tenanted or untenanted or node;
If tenanted planet but not a node, and the query is pertains to longevity, child birth or divorce, then use
the Sublord Planet and take significators as
a. Occupation;
b. Ownership;
c. Conjunction of planet(s) according to the Orbit of Influence.
Note: Aspect is taken as weaker significators and thus not to be considered. However at Sublord Level, if
Sublord Planet being tenanted and aspected by an untenanted planet, he may carry & produce the results
of that untenanted planet.
If tenanted planet, being a node, and for any sort of query of a life event, use that node and take
significators as
a. Occupation;
b. Ownership;
c. Treatment of planet of which node is agent. Check that planet whether tenanted or untenanted. If
tenanted, take only occupation and ownership. If untenanted planet, takes occupation and
ownership, aspect (both way to whom and by whom is aspected) along with Cuspal Sublord (CSL)
or Cuspal Starlord (CSTL), as the case may be.
If tenanted planet but not a node, and the query is not pertains to longevity, child birth or divorce, then
move to the starlord of Sublord Planet and note that planet is tenanted or untenanted.

If tenanted, use the significator of that planet as

a. Occupation;
b. Ownership;
c. Conjunction of planet(s) according to the Orbit of Influence;

Note: Aspect is taken as weaker significators and thus not to be considered. However if the final
planet after treatment being tenanted and aspected by an untenanted planet, he may carry & produce
the results of that untenanted planet too.

If untenanted, use the significator of that planet as

a. Occupation;
b. Ownership;
c. Cuspal Sublord (CSL) or Cuspal Starlord (CSTL), as the case may be;
d. Rapt or Platic Conjunction of house;
e. Conjunction of planet(s) according to the Orbit of Influence;
f. Aspects in both ways by whom is aspected and to whom is aspecting.

If untenanted planet, either node or other, and for any sort of query of a life event, use that Sublord Planet
and take significators as a.

I have presented the basic principal and application of Three & Half Step Theory (Back to Pavilion Method)
wherein I have tried my best to explain the theory. In short, this theory follows KP Principles with a
treatment in three different levels (Planet-Starlord-Sublord) and the treatment at 3rd Step (Sublord Level),
according to the nature of event; stellar position of planet; and presence of node(s), will ultimate turns to
apply the treatment or application process of Three & Half Step Theory (Back to Pavilion Method).
In any sort of confusion or query, comments are welcome.
Dr. Nirmal Kothari is the originator of this theory and I congratulate him for the advancement of this theory.
My sincere pranaam to him and I am very much thankful as he shared knowledge of this wonderful theory
and I am blessed being taught with him.
Thanks & regards,
Navin Chitlangia Rudra
