7 Testing

7.1 Test Plan

Detail your testing plan for your design, following the approach
outlined in the module book and covered in the workshop. Pay
specific attention to the description of your method, your task list,
and the data you will collect and evaluate. Check the course site for
links to an example test plan.
Testing purpose: Identify obstacles to interacting with the social
conversation online through the social network.
Research questions:

What obstacles do users encounter as they interact
with the social conversation through desktop?
2.
What disadvantages do users chat with others through
desktop?
3.
What elements allow users confuse or
misunderstanding through desktop?

Test Method:
Our group is going to carry out the follow method for testing:
Base on we have not made a website that can show on the
participant. Therfore, we decide to test our prototypes, the specific
steps are: The session will take place in a room, the participant and

moderator sit or stand at opposite sides of a table, participant say

the activty(like click the botton) then the moderator show
participant one paper(page) which will pop up after the participant
implement the activity, and many pages can be tested on the table.
During the period, 2 or 3 observers sit or stand beside the table, one
will record the situation that happened during the perod, another
one will hold caculagraph for reckoning time. The last one will
observe all the process and tell recorder what happen.
Session timing:
moderator preparation: 10mins
Begin to session - finish session:

Before the session begin:

1.the participant need not do any preparation
2.moderator will tell the participant
1)simple and offical greeting
2)Our product is focuing on build simple operation communication
function and clear interface. The main difference between other
types of enterprise social network and our product is the different
visual of interface. To test paticipant aims to find our products
shortcoming.
3)Our product have many functions, the participant need to
implement these functions step by step and we will collect hte data.
After the session:
1.moderator will say Good bye, thanks for joining us for testing.
2.the data collected will be analysed:
1)which parts have obstacles to interacting with the social
conversation online
2)caculate the time used in every function
3)deal with some suddenly situations that happened in the session.

Task list
Task 1: Send message in a department.
State: Website with 5 departments leading to department selection.
Successful completion: Participant send message in a department
that we choose.
Benchmark: Participant can find the correct department that we
choose and into this department to send a message, with no errors.

Successful completion: Participant add a post in a department

that we choose and @ mention a friend which in the friend list in the
post.
Benchmark: Participant can find the correct department that we
choose. Also, add a post in this department and find the @mention
function to mention the friend.

State: Website with 2 kinds of unread message that need to be
checked.
Successful completionb: Participant can check the unread

Benchmark: Participant can check two kinds of unread messages,
which include user reply and user like.

State: Website has two kinds of ways to start a private

Test environment, equipment, and logistics:

The session will take place in a room with a table and an observer
with the participant.
Participants wil use papers which represent every screens and popup windows to run the social network.

Test moderator role :

Test moderator will sit in the room with the participant while the
whole process. Test moderator explain session and the tasks and in

the task, test moderator will give the papers which are participants
need.

Reporting results:
Our team will depend on the data that we collected to fix the layout
of user interface.
Number of steps to complete task and the time of complete a task :
our team will depend on this data to evaluate whether the user
interface is easy to use or not and find the elements that we need to
complete or lost.
Number of false starts and steps involved and number of
misunderstand elements or terms in each tasks: our team will
depend on this data to evaluate and fix the elements or terms that
allow user misunderstanding and leads to user incomprehensible
elements and terms.
