We will open our session with introductions and a comparison of surrogacy with other parenting options. We will then provide the first part of
our comprehensive surrogacy workshop that was developed based on the accumulated knowledge of hundreds of gay men who have already
gone through the process. In this part we will go over the various surrogacy arrangements available for gay men, and prepare you to make the
basic decisions regarding your surrogacy journey.
Topics covered will include:
Basic terminology, types and components of typical surrogacy arrangements.
Typical sequence and timeline for gestational surrogacy journeys.
Major decisions that shape the surrogacy journey.
Considering your family vision, financial constraints, risk tolerance and ethical preferences.
Known vs. anonymous egg donations.

11:00-12:00pm: Picking providers, budgeting and financial assistance (GPAP) (Windsor ballrooms 1 & 2)
On the second part of our workshop we will provide peer advice on selecting service providers, cost saving tips, and resources for financial
support. Topics covered will include:
Where to start (agency, clinic, surrogate or donor)
Selecting an agency and clinic
Estimated costs, and factors that affect costs
Cost saving best practices.
Financial help through the Gay Parenting Assistance Program.

Anthony M. Brown, Esq., MHB board chairman
Anthony currently works for the law firm of Albert W. Chianese & Associates heading their Nontraditional Family and Estates
Law division serving married and unmarried individuals, couples and families. Anthony is the Executive Director of The
Wedding Party and has been a Board member since its inception in 1999. Anthony is the founder of TimeForFamilies.com,
a web environment dedicated to assisting gay and lesbian couples create their own families. Anthony has worked as a law
guardian at The Childrens Law Center, representing the legal needs of children in Brooklyn Family Court. Anthony also worked
as a legal intern for Lambda Legal in the summer of 2002. Anthony was appointed as a board member and Secretary of the

A.J. Edge, MHB Director of Operations & Finance

A.J. began working with Men Having Babies in October 2013 in conjunction with the launch of the Gay Parenting Assistance
Program (GPAP). His day-to-day responsibilities include conference production and logistics, managing GPAP including Stage
II matching and case management, finance, and budgeting. His past professional experience includes working for an array of
not-for-profit organizations including a Childrens Museum, an Opera company, and a Zoo. A.J. graduated summa cum laude
from Walden University with a BS in business administration and will be receiving his MBA also from Walden University in
August 2016. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, he now resides in North New Jersey with his husband, Daniel, a veterinarian
who works within the animal health industry for a large pharmaceutical company. Together they have two boys through
adoption, Jackson and Peyton.

Ron Poole-Dayan, MHB Executive Director

Ron is the executive director and founding board member of Men Having Babies. He has over 20 years of experience in
marketing and business strategy development both in the USA and internationally. Ron earned his Masters degree in political
economy and comparative politics from Columbia University, and his bachelors degree in business administration from the
Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Ron is married to Greg Poole-Dayan, the Administrator of the Jewish Home Lifecare Nursing
Home in the Bronx. The couple met in 1994, and are among of the first same-sex couples in the nation to father children
through gestational surrogacy. The twins, born in 2001, were conceived with the use of eggs donated by Gregs sister, and
carried by a gestational carrier. Ron has been the MHB program coordinator since 2005, and was appointed as the Executive
Director of Men Having Babies upon its in corporation in July 2012.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS:
Stephanie Scott
Stephanie Scott is the Executive Program Director at Simple Surrogacy. Stephanie is responsible for the initial
screening of all Intended Parents, Surrogates, and Egg Donors who apply with our program. She reviews all new
applicant profiles, records, references, insurance policies, and ensures all applicant background investigations have
been completed and cleared before matching within our program (investigation includes a search of both Federal
and State criminal records, as well as a Residential History and Social Security Verification). She also ensures that
the surrogates in our program have optimal medical coverage to cover the pregnancy and delivery and arranges for
all parties to obtain a life insurance policy.

Jerald S. Goldstein, M.D.

Founder and medical director of Fertility Specialists of Texas, Dr. Jerald S. Goldstein is a native Texan who received
his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas. He is board certified in both
obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Goldstein was an assistant professor
in the division of reproductive endocrinology at Washington University Medical Center, St. Louis. He has presented
before numerous medical conferences and published in such peer-reviewed journals as Fertility and Sterility and
Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Goldstein is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the
American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr.
Goldstein has repeatedly been recognized by peers and patients alike as a leader in his field. He has been voted a
Best Doctor in D Magazine, most recently in 2016, as well as listed as a top doctor in several publications including
Texas Monthlys annual list of Super Doctors.

Susanna Park, M.D.

World renowned for her fertility expertise, IVF success and excellence in medical care, Dr. Susanna Park has
practiced as an infertility physician for the past 15 years. Dr. Park joined the San Diego Fertility Center in 2013
following her tenure at Columbia University in New York City. Her passion is to combine her extensive experience
as an infertility physician with individualized care and compassion. Dr. Park is double board-certified in Obstetrics
and Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She graduated summa cum laude from Siena College
and obtained her medical degree at Albany Medical College. Dr. Park completed her residency and her fellowship
in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Park has
developed a large international referral practice due to her excellent patient rapport and high success rates with a
variety of treatments including IVF, donor eggs, egg freezing and gestational surrogacy. Dr. Park works closely with
the leading surrogacy agencies to assist the LGBT community build families.

Jessica Galera
Jessica is the Managing Director at Family Source Consultants, oversees the day to day business operations within
the agency. As a former FSC Egg Donor herself, Jessica quickly became passionate in fulfilling the dreams of
Intended Parents in building their family and joined Family Source Consultants in 2008. Jessica thoroughly enjoys
working closely with fellow reproductive colleagues and professionals in the field of reproductive medicine. Jessica
graduated from Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in Family and Child Studies, with an emphasis in Family and
Individual Development and a minor in Psychology.

Sam Chally
Sam Chally is the New Client Manager at Northwest Surrogacy Center, LLC. He provides intended parents with
information and support as they begin the process of surrogacy, focusing particularly on our San Francisco program.
He also assists with the development of our international and domestic programs.
Sam graduated with a degree in philosophy from San Francisco State University. A Portland native, he lived and
worked for many years in Mexico and Nicaragua, where he was a teacher, Peace Corps volunteer, and Sales
Consultant. He now divides his time between our office in San Francisco and his home in Bend, Oregon.

Emily Mounts, MS, CGC

Emily Mounts is Director of Genetic Services at Oregon Reproductive Medicine (ORM) and leads ORM Genomics,
a program dedicated to the integration of clinical and laboratory genetics into the care of patients with infertility as
well as those from the LGBTQ community. She is a board-certified genetic counselor and has 18 years of genetics
experience, during which time she has counseled thousands of patients to help them make informed choices
about prenatal and preimplantation testing. She is actively involved in the genetic and family history screening
of egg donors and prospective parents at ORM. Emily has a passion for helping patients and providers navigate
the increasingly complex world of genetic testing and enjoys working with other members of the ORM team to
provide individualized care for each patient. Her professional interests include the genetic causes of infertility,
carrier screening, egg and sperm donor screening, prenatal diagnosis, and ethical issues in preimplantation genetic
testing. Emily completed her Bachelors degree at the University of Michigan and her Masters degree in Genetic
Counseling at the Medical College of Virginia.

Said T. Daneshmand, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Said Daneshmand completed his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of California, Los
Angeles after completing his residency at UCLA Medical Center. He is Specialty Board Certified in Obstetrics
and Gynecology and Subspecialty Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology. As the Practice Director of
The Fertility Center, Dr. Daneshmands focus has been in developing safer and more successful protocols for
patients undergoing IVF, especially for patients using an egg donor, a gestational carrier, or frozen embryos. Dr.
Daneshmand has expertise in complex IVF cases and his research has included work on endometrial receptivity as
a way to maximize the probability of success in IVF. He is internationally recognized for his expertise in egg donation
and surrogacy and is one of the main providers of third party care in the United States, with patients travelling from
more than 35 countries in 2014. His practice is known for developing and implementing cutting edge technologies,
including next generation sequencing (NGS), the latest and most precise technique for assessing embryonic genetic
viability.

Lori L. Arnold, M.D. FACOG

Lori Arnold, M.D. is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. World
renowned for her fertility expertise, IVF success, and excellence in medical care, Dr. Arnold specializes in cuttingedge Assisted Reproductive Technology and has a special interest in Third Party Reproduction. For over 20 years,

David Cole
David Cole is an attorney, specializing in adoption and assisted reproduction. From 1987 through 1993, Mr. Cole
represented Dallas County Child Protective Services in suits affecting the parent-child relationship. Following that,
Mr. Cole handled the civil prosecution of every case investigated through the Dallas Childrens Advocacy Center.
Mr. Cole is a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys; a national organization devoted to the
ethical and competent representation of parties in adoption and assisted reproduction matters. Mr. Cole was a
charter member of the Dallas County Child Death Review Team and served on the Governors Adoption Initiatives
Task Force. He is a former board member of the Texas Association for Infant Mental Health and the Dallas Family
Connection and, in 1995, was awarded the American Bar Associations Child Advocacy Award. A recipient of the
Deans Merit Scholarship Award, Mr. Cole graduated from Pepperdine School of Law in Malibu, California and
received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin.

Robert Kaufmann , M.D., HCLD

Dr. Kaufmann is one of the top board-certified reproductive endocrinologist in Texas specializing in fertility care
ranging from intrauterine insemination to in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).
Nationally recognized as a leader in IVF for high successful donor and third-party gestational surrogacy programs,

Gail Sexton Anderson

Gail Sexton Anderson is one of the industrys leading innovators and creative thinkers. She has dedicated her career

Julian Escobar, M.D.

Dr. Escobar is board certified in both Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility and Obstetrics & Gynecology. His
training includes degrees from prestigious universities and fellowships at the National Institutes of Health and
Harvard Medical School. His research has been presented at national scientific meetings and prominent peerreviewed journals. Dr. Escobar is passionate about all aspects of fertility treatments and IVF, especially in broadening
their reach for people to become parents. He was awarded the Rising Star Award by Texas Monthly Magazine,
and Best Doctor in Infertility by Dallas Magazine. Dr. Escobar is an expert in the fertility field and LGBT/Third
party reproduction, and has also been a patient. With his partner Pieter, via egg donation, IVF and surrogacy they
built their family. His solid training and experience while treating thousands of fertility patients is deepened by his
personal involvement in third-party reproduction coming from the legal and emotional hurdles, as well as the social

Ashley Reeve Basnett

Ashley grew up in Plano, Texas where she graduated from Plano West Senior High with honors in 2004. She
received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a minor in English from Texas Tech University in Lubbock,
Texas. After graduating cum laude from Texas Tech, Ashley returned to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and received
her law degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in Fort Worth. Ashley is a member of the Arlington
Young Lawyers Association where she served on the Board of Directors from 2012-2013, Vice President from
2013-2014 and President from 2014-2015. She is also a member of the Arlington Bar Association where she is
currently serving on the Board of Directors. Ashleys other memberships include the Tarrant County Family Law
Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section.

Sunday Crider PhD, HCLD/ELD

Chief Scientific Officer, Sunday Crider, PhD, HCLD/ELD (ABB) brings 15 years of professional embryology and IVF
clinic operations to 3 Sisters Surrogacy. Dr. Crider has Doctorate in Cell Biology and Biochemistry, and has worked
as an embryologist with the Presbyterian Hospital IVF Lab in Dallas, Texas, as well as Womens and Infants Hospital
IVF program in Providence, Rhode Island. Upon returning to Texas, she served as Laboratory Director for The Fertility
Center at Methodist Charlton Medical Center, and North Texas Fertility, both in Dallas, TX. She continues to act as
a consultant for fertility programs. With extensive scientific knowledge and experience in assisted reproduction, Dr.
Crider is able effectively counsel families on the nuances of surrogate selection and to make the complex world of
IVF and Third Party Parenting manageable for both Intended Parents and Gestational Carriers.

Nathaniel Zoneraich, MD, FACOG

Dr. Zoneraich received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University. He attended medical school in New York
City and received his medical degree from the world renowned Cornell University Medical College. He completed
Ob/Gyn residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH and went on to complete his fellowship in
Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. After fellowship, he moved to Washington
D.C. and joined Washington Fertility Center, where he proved his skills at helping create families. In 2005, Dr.
Zoneraich moved to Arizona to open Advanced Fertility Care. Dr. Zoneraich is a Board Certified Ob/GYN and a fellow
of the American College of Ob/Gyn. He is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, Society of
Assisted Reproductive Technology, and the American Medical Association. His impressive training and experience
have resulted in some of the highest success rates in Arizona as well as the country. His special interests include
fertility preservation, in vitro fertilization (IVF), donor egg IVF, and advanced hysteroscopy surgery.

Krystal Lemcke
Krystal Lemcke is the Owner and Program Director at My Donor Connection, a full service Egg Donor and Surrogacy
Agency. Krystal lives in Minnesota with her husband and 5 children. She graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree
in English and Communications and began her career in Human Resources with a Fortune 500 Company. She was
introduced to Third Party Reproduction when she and her husband were faced with challenges of having a biological
child. With her experience as an Executive Recruiter along with CPP certification, Krystal was invited to bring her skills

ABOUT MEN HAVING BABIES

With over 4,500 future and current gay parents worldwide, the international nonprofit Men Having
Babies (MHB) is dedicated to providing its members with educational and financial support. Each year
over a thousand attendees benefit from unbiased guidance and access to a wide range of relevant
service providers at its monthly workshops in NYC and conferences in NYC, Chicago, Brussels, San
Francisco, Dallas and Tel Aviv. The organizations Gay Parenting Assistance Program (GPAP) provides
dozens of couples annually with over a million dollars worth of cash grants, discounts and free services
from over fifty leading service providers. Collaborating with an advisory board made up of surrogates,
MHB developed a Framework for Ethical Surrogacy, which has received endorsements from leading
LGBT parenting organizations worldwide. In addition, MHB offers extensive online resources, a
directory with ratings and reviews of agencies and clinics, a Surrogacy Speakers Bureau, and a vibrant
online community forum.

SURROGACY WORKSHOPS AND CONFERENCES

MHB offers monthly workshops in NYC, as well as annual conferences in New York, San
Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, Tel Aviv and Brussels. These conferences, which are organized
with the help of prominent LGBT parenting organizations, provide unparalleled opportunities
to get unbiased information, access a wide range of relevant service providers, and connect
with others going through the surrogacy process. Special interest panels for parents,

THE GAY PARENTING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (GPAP)

The Gay Parenting Assistance Program (GPAP) was created as part of our mission to
make surrogacy services more affordable for gay men. GPAP annually provides dozens of
couples with access to substantial discounts and about $750,000 in cash grants and free
services from about fifty leading service providers. Funds for this program come from event
sponsorship fees and direct donations. Applications for discounts (Stage I) are accepted on
a rolling basis, and candidates for grants (Stage II) are evaluated annually.

THE SURROGACY ADVISOR DIRECTORY

In an effort to promote transparency and affordability, MHB conducts extensive surveys of
hundreds of surrogacy clients. Using the data we receive, we compile exclusive rating tables
with satisfaction levels for various agencies and clinics, as well as success rates, and real
cost figures. This information has already helped many prospective parents save thousands of
dollars by identifying affordable, effective providers. The directory includes a comprehensive
listing of over 100 providers from the USA and beyond with contact information, descriptions
of services, video introductions, and reviews. A universal consultation request form allows our

ADVOCACY AND RESEARCH

Together with our Surrogates Advisory Board and community partners worldwide, MHB
