Holes of this type are used primarily for injection anchors, injections, water gauges, small compression piles, blasting, and soil development. O Description 1. Stability: ‘The machine is robust and stable in construction to permit it to accept today's heavy boring fittings and to drill accurately under high power. For the sake of stability, unnecessary joints and provisions for adjustment have been avoided. ‘The center of gravity of the machine is close to the boring carriage. As a result, by boring diagonally to the direction of travel a high feed force can be applied. 2. Boring directions: Every boring direction is possible from vertically downward to diagonally upward. ‘This adjustability exists not only in the direction of travel, but also diagonally to > the latter. ~10- O 8. Drive: ‘The machine is driven alternatively by — 60 HP electric moter (1500 rpm) — 68 HP diesel motor (4-cylinder) — 87 HP diesel motor (5-cylinder) ‘The 5-cylinder diesel motor is fitted a) with three-cireuit hydraulics for the tropics, or b) with four-circuit hydraulies. 4, Hydraulics: a) Three-circuit hydraulics with electric motor and 4-cylinder diesel motor Three-circuit hydraulics consists of three separately controlled, variable displacement pumps driven by means of a power take-off gear. It is capable of driving, e.g.: Hydraulic hammer: In the boring mode the hammer pump is controlled by means of a pressure regulator, which holds pressure in the hydraulic circuit constant. When the operating pressure exceeds the set pressure value, the pump is cut back, ‘The variable displacement pump requires only as much oil as is needed by user, i.e., there is no loss of power due to the pressure control valve. -11- Rotation: ‘The rotation drive pump is output-controlled during borer operation and has a pressure cut-off as well. The output regulator controls the delivery of the pump as a function of pressure. As a result, its hydraulic output remains constant, i.e., its rotational speed is always maximal for the turning moment established by a given load on the rotational drive. If the operating pressure reaches the set value on the pressure cut-off, the pump is Hkewise cut back, i.e., no loss of output due to the pressure control valve. Feed: ‘The feed pump also is output-controlied and hes a pressure cut-off, The operating pressure at which the pressure cut-off cuts the pump back is contin- uously adjustable at the control station, i.e., the operator can adjust the feed force continuously without hydraulic output being converted into heat output by the pressure control valve. Driving: ‘During driving the rotation drive pump and the hammer pump are automatically interconnected into ganged output control. The driving gear‘hydraulic circults are also equipped with driving brake valves. The latter preload the discharge end of the hydraulic motor during both forward and reverse driving, i.e., even when the machine is pushing (downhill gradient) the speed of the hydraulic motors does not increase. Jn place of the hydraulic hammer, an additional rotation drive unit can be employed for 2 dual-head capping system, “12+ b) Four-circuit hydraulics (with 5-cylinder diesel motor only) ‘The first three hydraulic circuits are identical to the three-cireuit hydraulies (hydraulic hammer, rotation drive unit, feed). The fourth hydraulic circuit has constant delivery. ‘The four-circuit hydraulics is capable of simultaneously actuating two rotation drive units, an hydraulic hammer, and feed (e.g., for a dual-head capping system with hydraulic hammer). General: Cylinders: ‘The hydraulic circuits for the cylinders by which the boring carriage is positioned for the desired boring direction are equipped with one-way restrictors and ublockable (i.e., blockage removable) twin check valves. ‘The one-way restrictors permit sensitive positioning. The unblockable twin check valves stop cylinder junction oil leakage so that the boring carriage is kept in its set position. Spool valves: Integrated spool valves permit continuous control of operating speed inde- pendent of load, This is made possible by a current regulator in the terminal block controlled by a directional slide valve. Pilot operated pressure relief valves are built into the directional slide valves for each individual user. Further, in each pump circuit there is at least one free directional slide -13- 5. so that additional connections can be made without great effort. Hydraulic oil cooler: The hydraulic system is equipped with an amply dimensioned hydraulic cooler. Its cooling capacity is up to 25% of engine output, depending on ambient temperature. Grippe: The UBW 06 borer is equipped with a combination of chucking device and roller guide, The chucking device and roller guide are each opened and closed with an hydraulic cylinder. eration: All functions are actuated from a control board. The control board may be swung to the most convenient position for a given set of conditions. '. Shrouding and noise control: Drive motor and hydraulic pumps are covered with a noise control hood. Integrated into this shrouding with the diesel drive are the diesel tank, battery, and electrical system. Accommodated therein with the electrical drive are the supplementary cooler and its electrical circuit. ‘The hydraulic hammer is optionally covered with a noise protection hood. “14. GO 8, Driving gear: At 10 ft, 4 in, the driving gear selected is unusually long for a machine of this size, -15- . Il Working with the UBW 06 Borer & -16- ry INSTRUCTIONS FOR AVOIDING ACCIDENTS ‘The following rules must be observed when operating the borer: L) 2.) 3.) 5.) 6.) he) 8.) Accident prevention regulation VBG 40 of the Civil Engineers' Professional Association. VBG 40 is appended to these operating instructions. While boring or driving, no one except the operator should remain on the borer. While driving through narrow passages with the control station swung in, the borer may be driven by walking alongside. In such circumstances the operator must be careful not to run over his own feet. ‘When turning the carriage, the operator must take care that no one stays within the turning range of the carriage. Before rotation of the boring fitting is actuated (especially whe boring with aiigers),’ helpers must step back from the boring carriage. Open the motor flap and fan shroud only when the motor is at a standstill. ‘When loading the borer using ramps, the latter must be covered with wooden planks (secure planks against slipping sideways). Do not load machine using ice-covered ramps. ‘On low loaders the borer must be secured against slipping laterally. Before leaving borer (diesel model) the ignition key must be removed. -17- PUTTING INTO SERVICE / INSTRUMENTS The following checks must be made daily prior to operation: a — Oil level in motor — Oil level in hydraulic tank — Fuel supply in fuel tank — Leaks in hydraulic system — Leaks in ali mechanisms filled with oil Accelerator: Warring hom On/Off ° INSTRUMENT SUMMARY SHEET ( /) $8 "88 CPS N 0 Engine stop ignition -19a- Hour-meter Diesel—tonk Motor—temperature Hydraulk-oil temperature up vohosadg JewWDH, wooq Burg Yuin, duwoyg % Mojoy wooq | yoddns diy | ‘woog -19b- duind sJaynouo Anjoy wor paaj eunssasd | funjoy peas dund yD p99} ysnipy pee Joyh039 vl é 40 MEN — NVTd NOLL Palo S) dojs dund Anuabiowy Jewwoy Starting diesel motor: First move the throttle hand lever to about 1/4-full speed. Insert ignition key into preheater starting switch and turn gently clockwise. Atthispoint the pilot lights "Monitor On'' — green "Generator" — red "Motor oil low" - red ‘must light up (see also Instrument Summary Sheet). Turn ignition key farther clockwise to its stop ~ the motor is being preheated. At temperatures below 0° C ignition key must be held in this position until yellow pilot light "Preheat" comes on. ‘Then press ignition in, and at the same time tum farther clockwise — motor is started, As soon as the motor begins to run, all pilot lights must be extinguished except green pilot pilot light "Monitor On." ‘When the motor begins to run, its speed should be reduced. With moderate load and varying speed the motor reaches operating temperature in a short time. Observe operating instructions for diesel motor. -20- ¢ Turning off diesel motor: ‘The motor must not be suddenly switched off from full load; it must be allowed to continue running at idle for a few minutes to reduce temperature imbalance, ‘To turn off motor, push button with inscription "STOP" until motor comes to a halt, ‘Then turn ignition key to position "0" (all indicator lights go out). When leaving the machine, the ignition key must always be removed. Observe operating instructions for diesel motor. -21- o) Motor monitor: ‘The diesel motor of the UBW 06 is equipped with a motor monitor. The motor monitor automatically turns the diesel motor off under the following conditions: 1.) Of pressure too low (pilot light "Motor oil low" Lights up). 2.) Motor temperature too high (pilot light "Motor temperature excessive" lights up). Possible causes for automatic motor turn-off under point 1 are — too little oil — defective oil pump When the diesel motor is started, no oil pressure has built up in the motor. There- fore the automatic motor shut-off is bridged by a time relay for 15 seconds after starting. Possible causes for automatic motor shut-off under point 2 are ~ broken fan belt ~ motor cooling ribs loaded with dirt — motor overload (only in the event of improper pump adjustment) Caution: A new attempt at starting must be made only when the problem has been eliminated that caused the motor to be shut off, Fuses in the motor monitoring system must be checked regularly. 22 Instruments and pilot lights: (see also Instrument Summary Sheet) ‘Motor temperature indicator: Care must be taken that the needle of the motor temperature gauge always remains in the green area. If the needle approaches the red area, the motor must not be turned off. It must instead be allowed to run without load until the needle is again in the green area. Hydraulic temperature indicator: The temperature of the hydraulic oi] must not rise above 80° C. lot lights: Red pilot light "Generator": ‘This pilot light comes on when the generator is not producing any voltage. In this case current consumption is supplied by the battery. Caution: When the battery is loaded by generator failure, the motor monitor also stops functioning. Yellow pilot light "Air filter": ‘This pilot light comes on when the dry-type air filter needs to be cleaned. ‘The pilot light is turned on by a low-pressure switch at the afr filter. The significance of the remaining pilot lights is explained in the section "Starting diesel motor", -23- DRIVING PROCEDURE ‘The traveling gear hydraulic cireuits are equipped with wheel brake valves. During both forward and reverse driving these wheel brake valves preload the outlet ends of the hydraulic motors, i.e., even when the machine is pushing (downhill gradient), the speed of the hydraulic motors does not increase. Driving forward: Push levers "Right turn" and "Left turn" forward (see operation diagram for lever locations). Driving speed is proportional to lever excursion and can be controlled very precisely. Driving in reverse: Pull both "Right turn" and '"Left turn" levers to rear. ‘Turning in place: To turn left, push lever "Right turn" forward and pull lever “Left turn'' to rear. To turn right, move both levers in the opposite direction. Turning with one track: To turn left, push "Right turn" lever forward, To turn right, push "Left turn” lever forward. Since turning by reverse motion of one track subjects driving gear parts to greater stress, when possible turning should be accomplished by driving one track forward (see "Turning with one track" above).
