goal.
Where? This poster was originally published in New york and was distributed
throughout the United States.
Why? The United states commissioned Ellsworth Young to produce this poster to
encourage citizens to buy bonds. Bonds were used to help finance the
war and allowed America to help its allies
How? This poster encourages Americans by portraying the Germans as violent
and aggressive, and showing the Belgians as innocent and in need of help

Justifying the War

Ellsworth Young who was an American magazine and book


illustrator, posted the Remember Belgium propaganda poster in 1918 as part of a U.S.
promotional goal. like most propaganda posters, Young depicted the need to support or Justify
the war. At first glace you can tell that Young is trying to show Germans violating the neutrality of
belgium and attacking their citizens, which in turn urged the American people to Remember
Belgium in an effort to get citizens to purchase bonds.

Condemn the War

Richard Jack, was an European painter of portraits, who became canadas first official
war artist in 1916 and painted The second battle of Ypres, 22nd April to 25th may 1915. In this
painting Jack portrayed the Canadians stand during the Second battle of ypres, which he
himself did not witness. Apart from this paintings massive size and beauty, Jack also depicted
the vast deaths and anguish that this second battle had to offer.

Glorify the War

Henry burr was a canadian singer of popular songs in the early 20th century, one song
that Burr wrote that helped glorify the war was send me Away with A Smile in 1916, the whole
song was describing a patriotic man who wants to go to war and fight along side the other men
in his hometown, so in all , this song was trying to help inform men about how fighting in the war
is a privilege and an honor.
