AboutRSETIs

RSETIsstandforRuralSelfEmploymentTrainingInstitutes.RSETIsaremanagedbyBankswithactivecooperationfromtheGovernmentofIndia
andStateGovernment.
DedicatedinstitutionsdesignedastoensurenecessaryskilltrainingandskillupgradationoftheruralBPLyouthtomitigatetheunemployment
problem.
Thesearepromotedandmanagedbybankswithactivecooperationfromstategovernments
RSETIconceptisbasedonRUDSETI(RuralDevelopmentandSelfEmploymentTrainingInstitute),asocietyestablishedjointlybythreeagenciesi.e.
SyndicateBank,CanaraBankandSriManjunatheswaraTrustbasedatUjireinKarnataka.
OneRSETIisestablishedineverydistrictinthecountry.Concernedbankistheleadbankinthedistricttakesresponsibilityforcreatingandmanaging
it.GovernmentofIndiawillprovideonetimegrantassistance,uptoamaximumofRs.1croreformeetingtheexpenditureonconstructionofbuilding
andotherinfrastructure.
Aftersuccessfulcompletionofthetraining,theywillbeprovidedwithcreditlinkageassistancebythebankstostarttheirownentrepreneurialventures.
Infrastructure:
ThecommonminimuminfrastructureofeachRSETIwillbe
23classroomswithtoiletfacilities(separateforwomenandphysicallychallengedfriendly).
Twoworkshops,twodormitorieswithbathfacilities.
Adequatephysicalinfrastructurefortraining,administration,hostel,staffquartersetc.

ProgrammeStructure&Contents:
Each RSETI should offer 30 to 40 skill development programmes in a financial year in various avenues. The programmes are of short duration
rangingfrom1to6weeksandcouldfallintothecategorieslistedbelow:
AgriculturalProgrammesagricultureandalliedactivitieslikedairy,poultry,apiculture,horticulture,sericulture,mushroomcultivation,floriculture,
fisheries,etc
ProductProgrammedressdesigningformenandwomen,rexinearticles,incensesticksmanufacturing,footballmaking,bag,bakeryproducts,leaf
cupmaking,recycledpapermanufacturing,etc.
ProcessProgrammestwowheelerrepairs,radio/TVrepairs,motorrewinding,electricaltransformerrepairs,irrigationpumpsetrepairs,tractorand
powertillerrepairs,cellphonerepairs,beauticiancourse,photographyandvideography,screenprinting,domesticelectricalappliancesrepair,
computerhardwareandDTP.
GeneralProgrammesskilldevelopmentforwomen
OtherProgrammesrelatedtoothersectorslikeleather,construction,hospitalityandanyothersectordependingonlocalrequirements.
Trainingprogrammeswillbedecidedbytheinstitutebasedonthelocalresourcesituationandpotentialdemandfortheproducts/services.Auniform
standardizedcurriculumwouldbedevelopedandcirculatedamongtheinstitutes.ThereshallbetwosetsoftrainingcurriculumsinalltheRSETIs:
i.BasicorientationprogrammecoursesforSGSYSHGs.
ii.Skilldevelopmentprogrammesformicroenterpriseandwageemployment/placement.
Softskilltrainingshallbeanintegralpartinallthetrainingprogrammes.
SelectionofTrainees&BatchSize:
Atleast70%ofthetraineesshouldbefromtheruralBPLcategorycertifiedbytheDRDA.Properweightage,asperSGSYguidelineswillbegivento
SC/STs,minorities,physicallychallengedandwomen.
Anidealsizeofabatchshouldbe2530candidates.
Shramadan/Yoga,presentationofMILLYwouldbecomeacommoninputintrainingmodule.

RecognitionofRSETItrainees:
Certificates issued by an RSETI will be recognised by all banks for purposes of extending credit to the trainees. It means that RSETI trained rural

youthswillbefreetoaccessanyscheduledbankforloan/credit.
CreditLinkage:
CreditneedsoftraineeswillbeappraisedbyRSETIsandthesensewillbeconveyedtothebankbranches.Thetraineescouldavailbankloansunder
SGSYoranyothergovernmentsponsoredprogrammes.
