Frank Talk Dialogue

What is Black Thought?

On October, 02nd, 2014, the Steve Biko Foundation will host a FrankTalk Dialogue at the
Steve Biko Centre. Titled after the pseudonym under which Biko wrote, FrankTalk is
designed to engage young people in discussion about salient issues impacting South
Africas political, economic and social development.
In commemoration of the 37th anniversary of Black Wednesday, the day the apartheid
regime banned the Black Consciousness organizations in South Africa, the upcoming
FrankTalk will explore the ideas of Steve Biko and Black Consciousness under the
theme: What is Black Thought?
The speaker for the dialogue is Professor Lewis Gordon, the 'Nelson Mandela Visiting
Professor, Rhodes University'. Gordon currently serves as the Chairperson of the Anna
Julia Cooper, Frantz Fanon, Nicols Guilln, and Claudia Jones awards. He is also the
author of award-winning books which include, Bad Faith and Antiblack Racism (1995

Hello Thando,
From a design perspective this looks great. Re the text, a few things:
There is some awkwardness in the first sentence in the phrasing of the date...
Why are we billing this as a 20th anniversary of democracy and 37th
commemoration activity? I think we're reaching here and it doesn't quite fit...
I think the subject matter more than stands on its own. If you feel it needs to be
linked to a broader anniversary, I think it would make more sense to link it to Black
Wednesday and the banning of various BC organizations...billing it as an
exploration of ideas etc....
Your thoughts?
