RETROSPECTIVE THOUGHTS
PRE-GAME
Warming Up feeling the ball in the hands, getting used to
the darkness of the sunglasses
Me: Were winning this game positive attitude
Me: Well at least win one half
Me: Were on
Overall feeling is much more positive compared to other
weeks
1ST HALF
Me: Little bit tighter on Riley to Adam (direct opponent)
Encouragement when we score our first points
Making them shoot from distance is working, and were in
the game, but we turn it over from a simple pass and they
score frustrating
2 missed 3point attempts from myself and Adam (2 most
skilled players) both realised straight away that
execution was well of
Dan gets his hand to a lot of intercepts but always taps
the ball out instead of catching it
Politeness when guarding opposition
Me: Ill give you some room
Perfect opportunity to score going into half time but Dan
tries a flamboyant pass and it doesnt come of

THEMES

Adam: Were in the game though! This is the closest weve

ever been
High 5s going around the team
Me: Im confident we can win. Confident, but tired.
Me: Just stick tighter on Riley because hes the only one
scoring
Me: Do what the sharks do and just have one of you two
(Dan or Adam the taller players) in defence and stay
under the ring so that youre there when he tries to drive
the ball in
Me: Dan, you can also dribble the ball with your hands.
You can do it, I believe in you!
Decision for me to start of
Jack (sideline): Haymo, you just need to tag Riley, hes the
only one doing anything
Me: Yeah its hard when hes fitter, better and taller.

2ND HALF
Instructing and encouraging from the sideline
Dan gets his hand to another intercept pass but taps it out
again
Me: Bit of talk boys
Score for the 3rd time team is playing well
Riley drives to the basket and Adam is exactly where we
said he should be at half time and Riley cant lay the ball
up so passes it of.
Me: Good positioning Adam
Dan gets in great position close to the basket, but doesnt
have the confidence to shoot
Adam draws 2 shots and sinks the first one

Opposition Strengths

(We share the ball around really well and have good
passing ability, finishing is the issue)
Shoot for 3pts and miss, very narrowly groan in
frustration
Again Dan goes up for rebound and taps the ball out of
court instead of catching it
Me: Just catch it Dan
Pass down the court after a rebound, pass to Dan who
throws it away straight to Riley as soon as he catches it
Me: Dribble it Dan! evidently frustrated, but also in good
humour
30 seconds left and were 2 points down
Spot the chance for an interception, get a hand to it but
cant catch it, goes in front of Adam, who misses it fairly
and the ball remains in possession of the other team.
Missed chance to possibly win the game
Conor (other team): Slow it down, hold onto it

POST GAME
Me: That was a good game
High 5s all round for our team all actually happy with
the way we played
Adam: lets do a debrief after that good game
Me: That was good fun, thats the first time its been
properly enjoyable.
(because we were close and playing a team of similar
ability)
Dan: 9 points, thats pretty good (3 more than wed scored
in all the previous games)
Adam: The passing and shooting was way better
Me: Ho Ching played well and we got better and that was
