TYPES OF HEN

OBJECTIVES
To determine the percent energy
saving by using different methods
To determine the best method of
heat exchanger network by using
Pinch Technology or Mathematical
Programming Method.

SCOPE OF THE RESEARCH

To use data that extracting from
literature of chemical plant only
This study focuses on Pinch
Technology Method and
Mathematical Programming
Method only

LITERATURE REVIEW
Major aim is to focus on the best
performance of the network
HEN design and optimization is largely
handled using optimization methods
These algorithms have been extensively
applied to HEN synthesis problems
which promised simple, fast and robust
optimization solutions

CONCLUSION
Mathematical Programming Method
gave the higher percentage of energy
saving (36%-53% )
Pinch Technology Method just around
(6% - 22%)
Mathematical Programming Method
produced higher energy savings

RECOMMENDATION
The number of data can be increased
to achieve more accurate results
Further investigation on the other
types of HEN Method
In order to get the higher amount of
energy saving, the type of method
must be chosen correctly
