Leadership and

Human

Leaderships

Some are born to lead; however the Leaders are made

through training. Anyone who has not learnt to serve
cannot learn to lead.
The Patrol Leader has a double responsibility by
leading the team and helping other member of the
Patrol to progress. He must improve himself, work
hard at school to gain his goal and to serve his Patrol.
The Patrol Leader is the most important member in
the success of the Patrol. He must know how to get
and give information, represent the Patrol, teach, plan
control in friendly manner and always praise where
due.

Does Leadership Come from

Experience?
Is the oldest and most experienced
naturally the best leader? It depends on
how you can LEAD or by experience. If
you are capable of using the knowledge
and if actually needed. The younger
may be more alert and adoptable, and
older can in many instances adopt the
ideas and progress.

Do Leaders have Physical

Characteristics?
Height, strength, appearance, etc
admittedly help, but without an ability to
lead, or knowledge of the subject, these
soon may fall away.
- One of the best PLs was I have known was smallest
in the Patrol.

Implications of a GOOD
LEADER?
There must be Leaders and a
followers. The Leader is one
whose ability are higher than
the others engaged in the same
activity, so one may be Leaders
in one sphere, but also a good
follower.

Now, What kind of a Leader

are you to be?
AUTOCRATIC
You plan everything and tell your Patrol what to do.

LAISSEZ

FAIRE

You lean back and leave it up to your Patrol.

DEMOCRATIC
The Leader and followers work together, work out
the plan and then get on with the job, each
knowing where he fits in the plan.

Qualities of a GOOD
LEADER
He must be a GOOD
FOLLOWER
Courage, reliability, humor, confidence,

energy, stickability, friendliness,

knowledgeable, determination, enthusiasm.

He is not a BOSS!
He is OBEDIENT to his
Leader.
He is ENTHUSIASTIC about
the things he has to and
sets as good example.
