On July 4, 2014, Friday, the School of Engineering held its 13th General Assembly at the
APC Auditorium with the theme Emerge-Eng: The Rise of the Engineers. The theme was
chosen in lieu of the increasing number of engineering students enrolling every year.
Registration started at 1:30PM and when everybody's settled down, the program started.
The Doxology was led by Mr. Patrick Angelo Hernandez, the president of ACES
(Association of Computer Engineering Students), followed by the National Anthem led by Ms.
Kimberly Joy Dela Cruz, then Engr. Ross Mel B. Lingon, the adviser of SEES (Society of Electronics
Engineering Students) gave the opening remarks. Soon after, Ms. Inna Oamil and Mr. Vince
Reyes the Masters of Ceremonies introduced the first speaker, Engr. Stanley Glenn E. Brucal, the
program director for the School of Engineering.
Engr. Brucal talked about the SoE accomplishments for the previous year and gave an
overview of what are the plans for the present school year and some updates in the ECE
Curriculum. Engr. Brucal then talked about the board exam statistics and the available programs
for the ECE. But the most important topic of Engr. Brucal is the SoE population, because the
number of engineering students is increasing, pointing out that the SoE is now twelve percent
(12%) of the total school population from the previous figure of ten percent (10%). Which
everyone is very excited about thus the theme.
The second speaker was Engr. Einstein Yong, the program head for the CpE students. He
gave some updates about the CpE Curriculum without failing to give humor as he always does.
The third speaker was Engr. Sergio Peruda Jr., The ESLO (Engineering and Sciences Laboratory
Office) Coordinator. He gave a presentation of what is new in the laboratories and reminded the
students to take care of the equipment, he also shared some very inspiring quotations. The
third speaker was Mr. Jake Bamba, The MRC (Math Resource Center) Head. Mr. Bamba gave
some updates about the Math programs of MRC including consultations and reviews, as we all
know Engineering is very tied to Mathematics.
33
It was time for the students to take the stage, Mr. Edward Adriano, the outgoing
president of ACES, and Mr. Adrian Abad, the outgoing SEES president gave their
accomplishment reports. Soon after some emotional and sentimental speeches of the two
outgoing presidents, Ms. Xusia Norberte, the SAO (Student Activities Office) Officer, awarded
certificates of recognition to the outgoing officers of SEES and ACES assisted by Engr. Ana
Antoniette Illahi (ACES Adviser) and Engr. Ross Mel Lingon (SEES Adviser).
The next part of the program is the Oath Taking of the incoming Officers of SEES, ACES,
The Processor and ROBORG (Robotics Organization) which is a new organization headed by
engineering students. It was again led by Ms. Xusia Norberte, the SAO (Student Activities Office)
Officer, awarded certificates of recognition to the outgoing officers of SEES and ACES assisted by
Engr. Ana Antoniette Illahi (ACES Adviser), Engr. Ross Mel Lingon (SEES Adviser), with Engr.
Sergio Peruda and Engr. Einstein Yong (ROBORG Adviser).
The last part is the passing of the key of responsibility to the incoming presidents of the
two major organizations of SoE. For the SEES it was Mr. Denzel Wong, and for ACES it was Mr.
Angelo Patrick Hernandez. After accepting the keys of responsibilities they both gave a speech
of what are their plans and they promised to their best as presidents. After that, Engr. Ana
Antoniette Illahi, the ACES Adviser ended the event by giving a very fun closing remarks.
The SoE General Assembly was very fun because of the Raffle segments and Intermission
numbers in between the speakers. And it just keeps getting better every year, especially now
that the SoE Family is getting bigger. We surely are Emerge-Eng and very soon we'll rise.

When we hear that SoE Week is fast approaching, two big events come to mind. One is
the usual pageant that every School in APC has during their respective weeks, and the other
one is the much awaited Eng-Kwentro.
The Eng-Kwentro is a unique event in the School of Engineering week, where every
Engineering block can showcase their talents and skills and they can literally do anything under
the sun. Because of the theme of "Merge-Eng: Brotherhood" the traditionally by block
performance became a by batch competition.
This year's Eng-Kwentro happened during the third day of SoE Week, November 26,
Wednesday, 5:00 PM, at the APC Auditorium. The event was hosted by Mr. Vince Ricafrente,
who made the audience laugh and made the whole night a happy and memorable one.
Every batch did their best but at the end of the day this is still a competition and one
batch stood out. It is none other than Batch 121, the highlight of their performance is when
they made a Parody of Frozen's "Let It Go" where Ruzcko Tobias of ECE 121 portrayed the
character of Elsa. Their performance made every person in the Auditorium cry because they
were laughing so hard and in that that moment the place really did seem magical.
Here is the ranking of the batches:
The Eng-Kwentro 2014 was a blast, and everyone is anticipating what's in store for the

SoE Week is being celebrated every year, and one of the event is Pera o Plus point that
was held at APC cafeteria last November 28 ,2014. The game is like the popular game pera o
bayong but the twist is youll need to choose between pera or supot.
Each block will have 5 representatives. The game started with players answering a series
of multiple choice questions (A, B, C, or D), hoping to eliminate all others until only one
remains. Some of the question will be about the topics about engineering or trivia about the
professor and many more. If two people remain in the game and both choose the correct
answer, the first person to arrive at his/her choice is declared the winner. The winner will
choose one of the supot then the bargaining will start.
The game ends with three winners Neil Verzosa, Kevin Balisalisa and Jejomar Abengana.
All of the winners didn't get the grand prize but rather they get a set of tools and some gadget
accessories.

Celebrating and rejoicing for the blessings and success of each event would be the
highlight for this event. It invites the active Board of Directors, Past Executive Officers and
professionals to gather for this event to have some entertainment and to join fun activities
prepared by the Executive Board.
This event of the IECEP Manila Student Chapter is exclusive only for the Board of
Directors who became active in the whole IECEP MSC events all throughout the year. This also
serves as a thanksgiving and also a year-end party for the IECEP MSC. This event aims to
acknowledge the hard work of everyone in helping for the events of IECEP MSC. The loyalty of
each and every one in the group is worth the party.
They organized different games that will test the friendship among the Board of
Directors from different schools. It was a very entertaining event for the members of the IECEP
