attention coVington commUnitY
Since the mid-1950s the Covington Elementary School grounds have been used as a place to fly a kite, walk
a dog, rush down a slide, practice athletics, or just meet a friend. At a community meeting in December 2015,
the Covington BOE, along with school administrators, presented options for the use of this land after demolition
of the elementary building. The meeting was well attended and the options were presented clearly. Some attendees expressed the desire for more practice football fields, while others felt the community was in need of baseball/softball diamonds and an upgraded playground for our youth.
It is our belief that our community greatly needs activities for all of our youth. The loss of two playgrounds,
four swing sets, and the only lighted basketball court in town, would be a step backward for our community.
The most cost-effective solution includes a new baseball/softball field. A local business has pledged funds to
build and maintain the new field at no cost to the school or community. This facility would be extremely valuable. The community currently has over 250 youths participating in baseball/softball, with access to only two
ball diamonds. This ball diamond could also be utilized by our high school baseball and softball teams. In addition, individuals have volunteered to spearhead fundraising for new playground equipment.
This option, which would include a full-size practice football field, upgraded playground equipment, maintaining the current lighted basketball court, and a Free baseball/softball diamond, is a great compromise
between the school and community. This solution would have a positive impact on all the youth and still support
our varsity football program.
We believe this option is a win-win for our schools and community, especially our youth. Please help save
our playground areas by letting your voice be heard. Speak to your neighbors, family, friends and, most importantly, our school administration. This is an urgent request; the current option of two practice football fields is
the leading choice of our Board of Education. Please keep in mind that our BOE has moved to the high school
but the phone number is still 473-2249.

Come to Celebration Reef June 20-24, where kids will sing,

shout, praise, pray, and be introduced to a Bible story each day.
This Vacation Bible School is geared for ages four thru Grade 6,
and will be held from 9:30 a.m. until noon each day.
Pelican Pier will offer games and snacks, and the E.C.H.O. Sea
Sub will encourage kids to serve. Curiosity Cavern Crafts will be
lots of fun for all participants.
Calvary Bible Church is located at 9462 St. Rt. 571, one mile

Carter has served in military and law enforcement for more than

Christmas on Campus activities.
We also donated to Nationwide Childrens Hospital in Columbus
for the children with cancer who receive treatment at the James
Cancer Hospital at Ohio State University, where Staci also was a
patient at different times throughout her battle.
This is the sixth year for this fundraiser, which has helped close
to 1,000 kids so far, and with your help we will be able to continue
this event. It is only possible because of the generosity of people and
because of its purpose.
Being with family, celebrating the Birth of Jesus, and putting a
smile on an unknown childs face was the highlight of Stacis
Christmas.
Entries and donations must be received by Tuesday, July 12. Hole
sponsors are available and very much appreciated, with the cost of
$50 for each hole. These can be sent to Stillwater Valley Golf Club,
9235 Seibt Rd., Bradford, OH 45308. Information concerning entry
fees and forms are available at the golf course or on their website.
Please keep this event in your prayers for blessings and success
so we can continue what Staci started.

Bluegrass Festival Set June 24

The Bradford Public Library is sponsoring their 16th Annual
Bluegrass Music Program. Come on out to the Bradford High School
Auditeria and enjoy these great Bluegrass bands from 4:45-11 p.m.
Chairs will be provided and all are welcome! This event is FREE as
a big thank you to our faithful area communities and library patrons!
The groups playing this year are Showtime Grass, Mad River
Railroad, Sugargrove, North & South, Berachah Valley, and The
Rock Island Plow Company. This is an outstanding line-up of bluegrass groups you dont want to miss. These fine musicians are donating their time to provide entertainment for the area community to
enjoy. United States Veterans will be honored by the first band,
Showtime Grass.
All the groups play the local festivals and events. Several of the
groups members have appeared on National Music lists for performances or song writing. They will have their music CDs available to
purchase.
A raffle will be going on at the school for a variety of very nice
items that have been donated by local businesses and individuals.
They have donated to this cause to assist with the expense of putting
on the program. Raffle tickets will be $1 each or six for $5. The tickets will be available the evening of the show and the drawings will be
interspersed between the bands.
Food will be available to purchase by The Bradford Historical
Society. See you there!

Valley Echoes
by Gary Godfrey

Will Orlando Ever Be The Same

The tide recedes but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land.
The music stops, and yet it echoes on in sweet refrains
For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains.
. Anonymous
At 70, I cant imagine losing a child, grandchild, or great grandchild.
The news we heard on Sunday about the Pulse Massacre simply
left us speechless. A pray warrior from church, asked me if I had
heard the tragic news? And then she told me of the 50 dead and
53 wounded.
The entire congregation should have gone to their knees in prayer
for all the families still wondering if their love one was still alive.
In deep thought, Trumps suggestion to ban Muslims from entering the United States suddenly didnt seem like a bad idea. After
the chaos subsided the idea grew into forming a radical Islam
commission.
How many lives does it take, to force congress to protect its citizens? And everything, starts at the top.
Weve had seven major Islamic terrorist attacks in seven years on
Obamas watch.
1. The San Bernardino attack.
2. US military recruiting office in Little Rock, Arkansas.
3. Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire at Fort Hood in Kileen, Texas.
4. US consulate in Benghazi.
5. Pressure cooker bombs near finish line of Boston Marathon.
6. Open fire on Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas.
7. Attack on military recruiting center and US Navy Reserve in
Chattanooga, TN.
This does not include attacks in other countries: Iraq,
Afghanistan, Turkey, Yemen, India and Libya.
This weeks bottom line: Grant but memory to us, and we
lose nothing by death.
