Press the ENTER button; board will load to inspection bay. After completion of
inspection, board will transfer to downstream conveyor

4. Board Loading Description

NORMAL Mode
Loading boards
To load a board into the AOI, the following conditions must be met:
E-stop conditions can exist, IN15 not lit.
IN5 or IN9 lit, a board is detected on PS1 or a board is available from upstream.
IN12 lit, Inspection Active
If register 511 is set to 1, IN7 must also be lit, indicating that barcode is ok.
When upstream equipment has a board ready to load to the AOI, it will send the board available signal. If the above conditions are met the
conveyors motors will be turned on and a not busy will be sent upstream, OUT5 and OUT3.
The first board will begin to load to PS1, when the board is detected at PS1 the AOI will send a busy signal upstream, OUT3 off. As soon
as barcode okay, IN7, is detected the load hard-stops will drop, OUT4 off, and the board will be moved to the inspection bay. If barcode is
not detected within the time duration stored in register 520 seconds, the AOI will abort the load if ENTER is pressed or continue to load the
board when barcode okay, IN7, is detected.
After reaching PS2 the inspection hard-stops, OUT1, will be activated and the belt will move at slow speed for the time duration stored in
register 519, in 1/100 seconds. The conveyors will stop and the crowders, OUT11 will be activated and ready to inspect will be activated,
OUT2 lit. The crowders will remain active if the value in register 502 is equal to a 1. The inspection hard-stops will remain activated
during the inspection if the value stored in register 522 is equal to 0.
Inspecting boards
Inspection complete is signaled when IN1 is pulsed by software. At this point the inspection hard-stop, crowders, and ready to inspect will
all be deactivated, in preparation to unload the board.
At this point Board Available to downstream, OUT9, and if applicable REJECT board, OUT10 will be sent downstream. The order that these
signals are activated will depend on the value stored in register 538.
If register 538 is greater than 1000 REJECT will be set before Board Available. After REJECT has been set Board Available will be
set after a time delay of the value stored in register 538 minus 1000 hundredths of a second.
If register 538 is less than 1000 Board Available will be set before REJECT. After Board Available has been set REJECT will be set
after a time delay equal to the value stored in register 538 in hundredths of a second.
Unloading boards
When unloading a board the following events may occur:
o

While board number one is waiting to unload and a second board is ready to be loaded into the AOI and downstream Not Busy,
IN8, is received or the second board is already detected over PS1.

I. Auto Inspector ~ 1-Stage

Page 5

In this situation the board waiting to unload will be transferred downstream and the second board will begin to be loaded onto the
AI from upstream. The conveyor motors will begin to run at normal speed. Board Available to downstream and REJECT will remain
active for the time duration stored in register 509 in hundredths of a second. After board number two has been detected at PS1
there will be a delay equal to the value stored in register 501 in hundredths of a second. If board number one is no longer
detected at PS2 the conveyor motor will be turned off and board number two will be loading using standard procedures.
o

If downstream Not Busy, IN8, is detected and there is not a board waiting to be loaded the conveyor motors will be activated.
Board Available and REJECT to downstream, OUT9 and OUT10, will be turned off after the time duration stored in register 509, in
hundredths of a second.
If register 517 is less than 100, the conveyors will continue to run until both the time in seconds, stored in register 517, or
the time in hundredths of a second, stored in register 509 has elapsed.
If register 517 is greater than 100, the conveyors will run until either downstream Busy is detected, IN8 off, or the time
duration of register 517 minus 100, in seconds, has elapsed. If the time duration in register 509, in hundredths of a
second has not elapsed the conveyors will continue to run for the remaining time.

MAINT Mode
Loading boards
In this mode the red tower light will blink when waiting for a board to be loaded.
A board will load automatically when placed over PS1; In this mode Board Available from upstream, Barcode okay, and UI do not have
to be active before the board will load.
The conveyors will be turned on to normal speed and Busy in AOI, OUT3 will be sent upstream. From this point the board will continue
to load as it does in normal mode.
Inspecting and Unloading boards
These procedures will function the same as they do when in normal mode.
PASS-Through Mode
Loading boards
The following conditions must be met in order to load a board:
E-stop conditions can exist, IN15 not lit.
IN9 lit, a board is available from upstream.
NO boards should be in the AOI
The conveyor motors will be started and Busy in AOI will be sent upstream. The board will load in just as it does in NORMAL mode;
however, the board will only stop at the inspection bay until Not Busy from downstream, IN8 is detected. The crowders and inspection
hard-stop will always be released after the board has stopped when in PASS-Through mode.
Unloading boards
Boards will unload just as they do when running in NORMAL mode.

4. Board Loading Description

Board Loading to conveyor one
To load a board into the AOI, the following conditions must be met:
No jam, error, or e-stop conditions can exist.
IN-12 lit AOI is ready to inspect
IN-7 lit barcode OK
IN-9 lit board available from upstream
No boards over sensor one IN-5 or sensor two IN-4
When upstream equipment has a board ready to load to the AOI, it will send the board available signal.
If the AOI is NOT BUSY it will turn on conveyor Ones belts, OUT-4 lit. And then send a NOT BUSY OUT-3, signal back to the upstream
conveyor. OUT-3 will stay on for the time stored in register 541 secs/100. At this point the upstream conveyor will turn on its belts and
the board will load into the AOI. This board will trigger sensor one, IN-5 lit and load till it reaches sensor two, IN-4 lit then stop. If at
any point the board does not reach sensor one or sensor two in the time stored in register 536 seconds, the AOI will alarm for a board
jam on conveyor 1.
Board loading to conveyor Two
To move the board to the inspection bay the following conditions must be true:
IN-12 lit AOI is ready to inspect
Flag 2 should be clear or equal to 0, meaning that there is not a board in the inspection bay.
If conveyor two is clear and the AOI is ready to inspect conveyor two belts will turn on, OUT-5 lit. When the board passes over sensor
three, IN-6 lit, conveyor two motors will change to slow mode, OUT-6 lit, for the time period stored in register 519 sec/100. The hardstops will also be engaged when the IN-6 sensor detects the board. For the hard stops to remain engaged during inspection register
522 should be set to zero and to have the board clamped during inspection register 502 should be set to zero. When the board is in
place and ready to be inspected OUT-2 will be set indicating to the software that they can begin inspecting this board. At this point
inspection of the board will begin. If the board had not reached the IN-6 sensor within the time allotted in register 520 sec, the AOI
will alarm for a board jam on conveyor 2.
Board loading to conveyor Three
When scan complete occurs if conveyor 3 is clear, conveyors 2 and 3 motors will be activated, OUT-5 and OUT-13. Once sensor IN-11
or IN-13 is detected conveyors 1 and 2 will stop and the board will wait at this point until Inspection Complete is received from the
software, IN-1 flashes. Once Inspection Complete has been received, a new board will be loaded into the inspection bay if available
otherwise the board on conveyor 3 will move to the end, sensor IN-13. At this point Board Available, OUT-9 and the Reject status of

II. Auto Inspector ~ 3-Stage

Page 11

the board, OUT-10 will be sent downstream. If the board does not reach sensors IN-11 or IN-13 within 3 seconds the AOI will alarm
that there is a jam on conveyor 3.
Board unloading to downstream equipment
If the downstream equipment is NOT BUSY, IN-8 lit, the AOI will turn on conveyor 3 belts and unload the board downstream. To extend
the time period that the belts run and Board Available remains active after the board leaves IN-13 extend the time stored in register
517, sec/100.

button or opening the front hatch panel will activate the Emergency Stop.

Pressing the E-Stop

In most cases recovery from an E-Stop will only require releasing the E-Stop button or closing the front hatch panel, then pressing
ENTER/RESUME.
Recovering when a board is being inspected:
If a board is in the inspection bay and a scan is in progress when E-Stop is activated, deactivate E-Stop then press ENTER/RESUME.
The board will be repositioned in the inspection bay by reversing conveyor 2 then moving the board forward again and being reclamped. At this point the board will be scanned again.
If a board is in the inspection bay and the scan complete has been given, pulse IN-6, the software will continue to process the
information and send Inspection Complete. When E-Stop is cleared then ENTER/RESUME is pressed the board should move to the end
of conveyor 3 as it normally would.
Recovering after Board Available, OUT-9 and Reject, OUT-10 have been sent downstream. In this case BA, OUT-9 will be deactivated
when E-Stop is detected.
If E-Stop is activated after BA and reject status have been sent and a NOT BUSY, IN-8 from downstream is detected while in E-Stop the
AOI will have an unloading jam routine. Clear the E-Stop and press ENTER/RESUME, the E-Stop will clear but the system will be in the
four beeps jam routine. Place the board downstream and press ENTER/RESUME on the AOI in order to clear this jam.

If the downstream system does not send a NOT BUSY, IN-8 during the E-Stop after clearing the E-Stop and pressing
ENTER/RESUME the BA and Reject Status, OUT-9 and OUT-10 will be reasserted and the system will unload the board
normally after receiving a NOT BUSY from downstream.

4. Board Handling Description

Reg 570 = 0; the system has 3 sensors and a BOARD REMOVED button.
o

Loading
The following conditions must be met before a board will load onto the ILAGAW:
No jam, error, or e-stop condition can exist.
Repair should be started and a database selected, this will set Flag 23.
Cycle Stop must not be selected, which will clear Flag 29.
The repair station should be clear of any boards, Flag 2 clear.
In-9 lit board available from upstream.
If all of the previous conditions are met the ILAGAW will start moving its belts, OUT-5, then send a not busy signal to upstream,
OUT-3. If a board is not detected at either PS1 or PS2 within 7 seconds the ILAGAW will alarm for a board jam while loading.
Once PS1 detects the board the belt will continue to move at normal speed for the time stored in register 524 sec/100, at which
time the belts will begin to move in slow mode, OUT-6.
When the board reaches PS2 all boards will be stopped if the value stored in register 522 is equal to 2. Only reject boards will stop
if the value stored in register 522 is 1. If the board does not reach PS2 after being detected by PD1 within 4 seconds the ILAGAW
will alarm for a board jam while loading.
Boards that are stopped will remain clamped during review if the value stored in register 502 is equal to 1.
If the board is not stopped for review it will continue to be transferred to PS3. Once reaching PD3 a Board Available signal, OUT-9
will be sent downstream. PS3 must detect the board within 5 seconds after passing PD2 or a board jam alarm state will be
activated.

Reviewing boards
The board will remain in place to be reviewed and the red tower light will flash until reviewing is completed.
Once review is completed, Flag 32 will be set. The user will be able to select Board Pass or Board Fail.
If the board Passed, Flag 4 will be set and the board will be transferred to PS3. Once reaching PD3 a Board Available
signal, OUT-9 will be sent downstream. If the board does not reach PS3 within 5 seconds the ILAGAW will go into an alarm
state for a board jam.

III. Repair Station ~ Single Lane

Page 18

If the board Failed, Flag 4 will be cleared and the board should be manually removed. Once the board has been removed
the Board Removed button must be pressed in order to load another board.
o

Unloading
The following conditions must be met for a board to unload:
OUT-9 lit, indicating Board Available to downstream.
IN-8 lit, indicating Not Busy from downstream.
Once the previous conditions have been satisfied OUT-5 will be lit moving the belts once again. The belts will continue to run and
Board Available OUT-9 will remain on for the time stored in register 535 in seconds/100 after passing PS3.

Reg 570 = 0; the system has 1 sensor and no BOARD REMOVED button.

indicating a board jam while loading.
Boards that are stopped will remain clamped during review if the value stored in register 502 is equal to 1.
If the board is not stopped for review it will continue to be transferred towards the end of the belt for the time duration stored in
register 535 seconds/100. After this time period has elapsed the belts will stop and a Board Available signal, OUT-9 will be sent
downstream.

Reviewing boards
The board will remain in place to be reviewed until reviewing is completed.
Once review is completed, Flag 32 will be set. The user will be able to select Board Pass or Board Fail, in either case a Board

4. Board Handling Description

REJECT boards going to the review lane.
o

Loading to conveyor 1
In order to load a board onto the review lane, conveyor 1 the following conditions must be met:
No jam, error, or e-stop conditions can exist.
Cycle Stop must be inactive, which will clear Flag 29.
In22 and In20 cannot be lit, indicating that conveyor 1 is clear of boards.
In9 lit, indicating that a reject board is available from upstream.
When the previous conditions are met the motor for conveyor one will turn on, Out20 then the review lane not busy signal will
be sent, Out3.
The board will be detected by PS1 then PS2. As soon as the board is detected by PS2 review lane busy will be sent upstream,
the Out3 led will turn off. If conveyor 2 is not busy when the board reaches PS2 the board will continue to be transferred to
conveyor 2; however, if conveyor 2 is busy when the board reaches PS2 it will stop and OUT23 will be turned on, indicating
that a board is on conveyor 1. If the board does not reach PS1 or PS2 within 6 seconds it will go into an alarm state with
single beeps.

Transferring to conveyor 2
In order for a board to load from conveyor 1 to conveyor 2 the following conditions must be met:
No jam, error, or e-stop conditions can exist.
In4 cannot be lit, indicating that conveyor 2 is clear of boards.
A board must be available from conveyor 1; register 20 is equal to 1.
When the previous conditions are met conveyor 2 will start conveyor 2 motors, Out4 then register 21 will be set to 1 indicating
that it is not busy. When the board leaves conveyor 1 Out23 will be turned off again, to show that no board is on conveyor 1.
If conveyor 3 is not busy when the board reaches PS3 the board will continue to be transferred to conveyor 3. If conveyor 3 is
busy when the board reaches PS3 it will stop and Out22 will be turned on, indicating that a board is on conveyor 2. The DLAG
will go into an alarm state with 2 beeps if PS3 does not detect the board within 3 seconds.

Transferring to conveyor 3
The following requirements must be met in order for a board to transfer from conveyor 2 to conveyor 3:
No jam, error, or e-stop conditions can exist.
In5 cannot be lit, indicating that conveyor 3 is clear of boards.
A board must be available from conveyor 2; register 22 is equal to 1.
Once the previous conditions are met conveyor 3 motors will be activated, Out13 then register 23 will be set to 1 indicating
that conveyor 3 is not busy. When the board leaves conveyor 2 Out22 will be turned off, to show that no board is on conveyor

IV. Repair Station ~ Dual Lane

Page 27

2. When PS4 detects the board, if repair is not started, flag 23 set or conveyor 4 is busy the board will be stopped and
Out21 will be lit indicating that a board is on conveyor 3. The board will not be unloaded from conveyor 3 until repair is
started and conveyor 4 is not busy. However, if repair is started, flag 23 set and conveyor 4 is not busy the board will
continue to moving to conveyor 4. If PS4 does not detect the board within 6 seconds the DLAG will go into an alarm state with
3 beeps.
o

Transferring to conveyor 4 and preparing for reviewing

The following requirements must be met in order for a board to move from conveyor 3 to conveyor 4:
No jam, error, or e-stop conditions can exist.
Repair must be started; flag 23 will be set to 1.
In6 and In13 cannot be lit, indicating that there are no boards on conveyor 4.
A board must be available from conveyor 3; register 24 is equal to 1.
As soon as the above conditions are satisfied conveyor 4 will prepare to load a board, by activating the inspection hard stops,
Out1 lit. Once the hard stops are activated In14 will turn off, when In14 is off conveyor 4 motors will be started in slow mode,
Out5 and Out6 lit, then conveyor 4 not busy will be set, register 25 set to 1. Once the board leaves conveyor three Out21 will
be turned off. When the board reaches PD5 the alarm will beep once quickly as an alert to the user that a board needs to be
reviewed. The belts will continue to run in slow mode for the time duration stored in register 524, seconds/100. When
conveyor 4 stops the clamps will be activated, but will only remain clamped if register 502 is set to 1. The board will remain in
this position until it has been reviewed. The DLAG will go into an alarm state if PS5 does not detect the board within 3
seconds.

Review complete
Flag 32 will be set by software when review has completed. The user will be given the option to choose board pass or board
fail. If the board passes flag 4 will be set and the board should be transferred to PS6. If the board fails flag 4 will be clear and
the board should be manually removed if register 501 is set to a 1 or transferred to PS6 is register 501 is set to 0.
Transferring board to PS6:
Conveyor 4 motors will be set to run in slow mode, when PS6 is detected Board Available from review lane and reject board
will be sent downstream, Out9 and Out10 lit. The board will be stopped at PS6 and wait to receive downstream not busy
to the review lane, In8 lit. If the board is not detected within 5 seconds after leaving PS5 an alarm state will be activated
with 4 beeps.
Manually unloading failed boards:
Conveyor 4 motors will reverse in slow mode, either until the board reaches PS5 or 0.2 seconds has elapsed. When the
conveyor stops moving the board should be removed the BOARD REMOVED button should be pressed. Conveyor 4 should
now be ready to accept another board.

Unloading boards to downstream

When downstream not busy to the review lane is received the board will be transferred off of conveyor 4, from PS6 in slow
mode. If the board has not left PS6 within 3 seconds a jam alarm will be triggered with four beeps.
