KIDS COUNT
We thank God for the many years of service of Beverly
Burgoyne as she has worked with our youngest little people
and now feels led to a new stage in her life. Betsy Evans
continues to faithfully serve as our elementary aged Children’s
Director. It also happens to be that time of year we offer
Vacation Bible School. In other words, kids count!
“Submerged” is the VBS theme this year, utilizing the
submarine metaphor and the need to find truth below the
surface. We want our kids to dive deep and stay down long.
They don’t need a diving bell or scuba gear but a willingness
to sink into scripture in order to see the wonderful things that
God has for them.
Our children’s ministry also teaches them in Bible and Life
Groups, Kidztown, and AWANAs to establish a solid faith
foundation and a discipleship track so that they will be like
little Samuel. Even as a young boy, he “grew, and the Lord was
with him“ (1 Samuel 3:19). Our volunteers believe that the
Bible is our textbook, standard, and guide. It is our joy to give
a copy of the scripture to our kindergarteners each year at this
time. We are also committed to discipling new believers in a
special children’s class.
We want children to grow up knowing that Jesus is their
Friend as well as Savior, and that in spite of their sin, God loves
them and offers salvation. Thank God for adults who work with
each age and stage of our children and do not try to
prematurely push them into a decision without a profession of
faith. In no way do we want to hinder them in their steps
toward God, yet we know that they can become “wise for
salvation” (2 Timothy 3:15) like young Timothy as they put
their faith in Christ.
We offer not only Bible teaching but also scripture-centered
learning activities, games, and events. Our workers
understand that there is more to learning than listening and
more to teaching than telling. They are Christian role models
for our kids and give their sacriU ovo) MN ee aS aE) LS
