Service Learning
The purpose of our service learning project is to help those in need in countries
besides ours. We are making and sending dresses to Africa to help provide clothes for
the children in need of clothing. We will be sending these dresses throughout the
organization Little Dresses for Africa. What that organization does is takes the dresses
on mission trips and evenly distributes them throughout Africa to the children in need.
Since we wanted to do more than just make dresses and send them, we are also
involving them in the Shea fashion show. In the Shea fashion show there is an African
fashion collection which they intend to have students model African inspired clothing.
Our plan is to make some dresses mimicking the dresses they make by using the same
fabric and have them be modeled by kids ages 4-8. Before the kids walk out on stage
with the older students the host would explain how we made the dresses and what the
purpose for making the dresses was.
