PREFACE
I.1BACKGROUND
The innovation of technology has grown rapidly in early third
millennium, so it is necessary to balance the professionalism, something
undergraduate student must have. It means, in real industry, an engineer
must have good attitude, and could use time effectively to make a decision
for solving problems. In addition, an undergraduate student should
improve his/her skill and have a good social communication with others.
Social and culture environment and lifestyle of professional workers must
be understood, because things that we learn and studied in University
sometimes are not the same with the real fact we will find in the field.
Beside, with on the job-training, a college student can get a chance
to observe, compare, and applied theories they have got in University.
Also, they could have more knowledge, and help to solve a problem in
industry. In the other hand, for a company, job-training could be an event
to search for new human resources and an event to evaluate the quality of
undergraduate student.
Total E & P Indonesie is one of oil and gas industry in Indonesia. This
company has the head office located Jakarta and operational sites in East
Kalimantan. In Indonesia, the Total Group has both upstream and
downstream sector. In Upstream activities, including the process of
exploring and production oil and gas. In downstream sector,

including

the refining of oil and the processing and purifying of gas as well as the
marketing and distribution of products. Therefore, As a student of

chemical engineering, we want to observe more about the processing of

oil and gas production, and anything related to chemical processes.
Based on that thinking, we want to apply an on the job-training
program to your company, and we hope that the company would accept
our proposal. We are sure that our knowledge could be applied in this
company.

I.2PURPOSE
The objective of this job-training is:
1. To know the competence of Bachelor of Chemical Engineer
Undergraduate that industry needs.
2. To get an experience and get more knowledge about processes
that happens in chemical-petroleum industry.
3. To understand and get use to the working environtment.
4. To fulfill a requirement to graduate from Chemical Engineering
Department or University.
5. To get a chance to observe, compare, and applied theories from
University in the real condition in industry.

CHAPTER II
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
In order to inform our activities while we are following on the jobtraining, then it is necessary to explain an important thing which is comes
from our idea. And to make sure that our activity are suitable with the
program the company has planned. we expect to get more information
from the company.

II.1 PLACE OF JOB-TRAINING

The job-training would be held in Total E & P Indonesie, Jl. Yos
Sudarso Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

II.2 TIME OF JOB-TRAINING

The job-training program is about one month, it would be held from
February to March 2016 or from March to April 2016. It may be changed
based on the schedule that offered by company.
For the company consideration, We enclose the schedule in this
semester of 2015/2016 :

September until December 2015

January until April 2016

: Regular Study

II.3 CONTENT
The content of the job-training program is decided by Total E & P
Indonesie. The content of job-training program is better if related to
Chemical Engineering, such as Production, The Operation Process,

Chemical Plant, and Utilities System. But, it is possible if Total E & P

Indonesie would give other knowledge as long as it is related to Chemical
Engineering application.
Student realize that Total E & P Indonesie is one of successful oil
companies in Exploration and Production in Indonesia, handle matters as
mentioned above. So we intended to apply an job-training program to this
company, because we believe that we could get more knowledge and
unforgettable great experience, and we can improve our personal skill and
social communication.

II.4 METHOD
The learning method we expect in this job-training are learning and
observation by cases that occurred in the field, which will guided by the
experts in Total E & P Indonesie and Lecture from Chemical Engineering
Department University of Riau. The activities are:

Field Orientation/Collecting Data

Report Production

Method of collecting data :

1.

Observation
The On the Job Training candidate will conduct a direct observation
on the applied technology and collect the required data.

2.

Interview
In order to support the result of observation, the On the Job Training
candidate will have an interview with the staff or employees which
related with the On the Job Training theme.

Literature Studies

Literature studies are needed so the data from observation and

interview can be processed and compared with the standardized
data. The theory from literature studies also can help to make the
evaluation and analysis.

Evaluation
From the observation, interview and literature studies, the evaluation
to the selected theme can be produced.

CHAPTER III
CLOSING
And so is our proposal to have a job-training in Total E & P Indonesie.
We are hoping that this proposal will be well accepted by the company.
Considering our lack and limits, we are really hoping for your moral and
