The Influence of Chicago Academy

A community is a place where I feel comfortable being myself and dont
care what others say about me. I belong to many communities which include
Chicago, Chicago Academy, Portage Park, and School St. Of these communities I
feel the most a part of is Chicago Academy. I feel a part of this community
because when I walk into this community I feel free to be myself. Also I have
many friends who support me and Im very close with them. Being a part of
Chicago Academy affects the decisions I make.
The Chicago Academy is made up of student population of 70.7% hispanic,
2.8% black, 21.6% white, 2.6% asian, and 2.3% other (

2014-2015). The gender statistics of Chicago Academy is 42.22% female and
52.78% male (Chicago Academy Elementary School, 2015). The economic status of
Chicago academy is a low income of 77.4% (

overall population of Chicago Academy is 610 students (

2014-2015). The leaders of Chicago Academy is the principle Paul Zeitler and the
school clerk Ewa Sieminski (Chicago Academy Elementary School, 2015-2016).
The leaders of Chicago Academy has made the school a level 1 rating for the
2015-2016 school year and is in a good standing (Chicago Academy Elementary
School, 2015-2016). The sites of Chicago Academy is the auditorium which can be
found on the first floor. Another site is the cafeteria which is located of the third
floor. Another site is the football field which is outside in the back of the school
(Chicago Academy Elementary School, 2015-2016).
The members of Chicago Academy that I feel most close to is my friends.
My friends are Jenna P, Sabrina A, Lily R, and Jailene D. Other members I feel
close to are some teachers. Those teachers are Mr. Value and Ms. Rodriguez. I feel
close to these friends because ive know most of them for the past 10-11 years. I
feel close to these teachers because they were always there for me and pushed
me to better. A decision I made that was affected by my friends was going to
Chicago Academy High School. My friends affected me to going to Chicago
Academy High School because they were all going there and I wanted to
experience high school with them. I am very open minded because of my
community. I am friends with everyone and my best friends are hispanic, white,

and black and Im glad they are my friends. An experience I had that has made
me this way is for a birthday party I was having my mom took a picture of me
and my friends. In the picture there were blacks, white, hispanics, and one asian
having fun.
