Initial research
Before starting this project, I decided to do a bit of research into other
advertisement banners and this gave me a very clear idea on what I wanted to
do and how I go about it. I have concluded that on most banners there is the
name of the band, the price of the tickets and a number/email to contact for
enquiries on the tickets. Knowing this I feel that I can make a good
advertisement banner for the band pixels.
Aesthetic quality
The aesthetic quality will be good due to the sheer amount of assets I have to
use on the internet and also how large the resolution is. I will try to get some
assets that are relevant to the ethos of the band. Also I will use large assets so
when they are scaled down their edges are smooth. For example, my logo is the
same size as I want the stage to be in director (1200x200) see below for logo.
Colour palettes
I will use vibrant colours as that is what is used in the initial logo design. I will
use colours akin to the LGBT flag as it is bright and very vibrant, it will make it
look like its made from candy. I have chosen to do this as most video games
today are quite colourless and gritty so this will be a change of pace and mood
for gamers who go to see the pixels. (see below for an example of a video game
and its colour pallet)
Typography
The typography will be informal as its an advert for gamers
aged 18-25. I will aim to use the same font and text size as I
do in the logo to show consistency.
Sounds
It will have sounds from old video games such as Mario
like
the coin collection sound and the invincibility music in the background. This will
be fitting as most gamers aged 18-25 have played Mario at one point. Not only
that it will bring back a wave of nostalgia from their childhood that is hard to
recreate.
Animations
It will have animations like the older video games e.g. things bobbing up and
down and when you click on something it will jump off the page like when Mario
dies in the original games. This will be combined with interactivity to make the
banner unique. I will try to mimic the animations from the original Mario cart
games so this means I will need to do extensive research on the games as I
havent played them that much.
Interactivity
The interactivity element will bring a basic form of navigation to the banner it will
allow users to click on a subheading to go to the section of the banner that they
want e.g. ticket prices. They will then be able to click on the pixels logo to
restart the animation from the beginning. This is crucial to getting the potential
customers more engaged.
Video
For the video footage I will try to get some footage of a generic electro band so
that it looks like the pixels are actually playing. This will have a good effect on
the target audience as it will make them look popular and it will also make them
want to see them more. I think the most suitable band to get footage of is
probably owl city, because before they split up they were one of the best electro
bands that used very vibrant colours in their music videos and concert.
