Types of Contract
The employer has to take care of the tax and employment responsibilities for
their staff which depends on the type of contract they have.
Contracts under seal is a contract that is an enforceable legal document but
only if it is sealed with a stamp. The stamp represents the agreement by parties
which have legal consequences. If the contract is not stamped then it is not
valid.
Express contract terms are stated by the party, either orally or in writing, at the
time of its making. This has to be definite offer from the contractor which has to
be consented by the contracted person.

Types of Contract
Implied contracts is as strong as a promise. This is between to people who just
mutually agree to the terms. They are as binding as express contracts. In order
for them to be bound, there has to be a party to make it official.
Executed contracts and Executory contracts has nothing needed to be done by
either party. This is a misnomer because the completion of performances by the
parties signifies that a contract no longer exists. An executory contract is one in
which some future act or obligation remains to be performed according to its
terms.
Bilateral and Unilateral contracts is a mutual promise between both people.
Also known as a two-sided contract because it includes two promises.
Unconscionable Contracts is one sided which is in favour to the side with the
most power. This contract isnt one to be accepted by a mentally competent
worker because it isnt fair or decent.

Negotiating Contracts

To negotiate a contract properly you have to know the required elements for a
valid contract.
You must know the laws in your state.
Understand which type you are using, how to bind it and how it works.
Determine what contract provisions are negotiable.

You should know what you want in/from this contract.

Working to a Brief

When working to a brief, you need to stick to the client wants and need as close
as you can or the customer wont be very happy with your service.
You need to consider;
Are there any specific points of the project that they want to highlight?
What is the productions time-scale?

What is the budget for the project and is the budget realistic?
What does the client want?
Is there/Who is the target audience?

Freedom of Information

Freedom of Information Act 2000is an Act of Parliament of the United Kingdom


that creates a public right of access to information help by the public.
It is the freedom to speak your mind (excluding being racist, sexist etc)
Public authorities are obliged to publish certain information about their
activities

Members of the public are entitled to request information from public


authorities.

Censorship

This is the act, system, or practice of censoring.


Censorship blocks something from being read, heard, or seen. If you've ever
heard the sound of bleeping when someone is speaking on television, that's
censorship.
It is good because Media influence on society, Media to be censored for
children, Political agendas and Security of secrets.
It is bad because Propagating Ignorance, Shaping the young minds, Freedom of
speech, Modified Truth and Hinders Creativity.

Copyright

This was created 1988 so that people get credit for their own work and it offers
security for their work. Before copyright was invented, anyone could steal your
work and claim it. It involves copyrighting lots of multimedia formats, especially
online work because it is out in the open for everyone to see. This applies to
copying software such as songs, videos, text, images, sound etc. Anything stolen
with copyright on it is against the law and you could be fined. When something
is copyrighted you cannot copy the work, rent, lent or issue copies of the work
to other people, perform, broadcast or show other people the work, or adapt
the work

Copyright

There are types of work that are protected such as;

Literary song lyrics, manuals, computer programs, documents, leaflets,


newsletters and articles, etc.
Dramatic plays, dances, etc.
Musical recordings and score.
Artistic photography, painting, sculptures, architecture, technical
drawings/diagrams, maps, logos.
Sound recording may be recordings of other copyright works, e.g. musical
and literary.
Film video footage, films, broadcasts and cable programmes.

Trademarks
Trademark is a sign that businesses own which means Trademarks Act 2002 as
"any sign capable of being represented graphically and distinguishing the goods
of one person from those of another"
Aardmans logo is protected by copyright and trademark.
This image should not be rendered any larger than is required for the purposes
of identification and/or critical commentary. The default rendering of this image
is of a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by the
company or organization, without being unnecessarily high resolution.

When you are making a media product you have to take ethical views into
consideration, this limits what you can do or say. The stops racial comments
which may offend people or even worse. this includes;
race (black, white, Asian)
sexuality (get or straight)

disability (not able to walk, mental illness etc.)


nationality (British, Canadian etc.)

regionalism (north or south)
age (OAP or child, etc.)
This means that you cannot suggest that one age, race, sexuality and so on is
more significant than others, or that a small group of people can do something
but everyone else can.

Social Issues and Sensitivities


Gender expectations are made by stereotyping;
Girls arent allowed to play football
Boys arent allowed to do ballet
Girls cant have short hair
Boys cant wear make up

There are lots of different religions, each with different beliefs, some people
stand by it and some dont even have a belief.

Cultural Issues and Language


The problem with being an international business like Aardman is that they
would have to have bilingual or translators to work for businesses in different
countries.
Translate all relevant documents.
Provide language classes.
Use both telling and showing methods of training.
Use visual methods of communication.
Use simpler words with fewer syllables.
Learn the basics of your employees language.
