Please detail your experience in the management of people and resources

As Art Co-ordinator I promote Art and Design throughout school by engaging children in a range of activities based in
and outside the classroom, providing opportunities to share their creativity with the local community. I invite local artists
and organisations to work with children by organising cross-community projects, for example designing and creating
sculptures for our community.
As Pupil Participation Co-ordinator I designed and installed a School Council for all pupils. I liased with the Chairman of
our Board of Governors, our parish priest and local politicians to promote Election Day. Guest speakers from secondary
and grammar School Councils attended and shared experiences with children and staff. We work closely with the Mayor
of Newry and have utilised Council Offices and chambers to hold meetings. The professionalism in which my council is
run was noted by the Mayor.
As school Literacy Co-ordinator I am responsible for the promotion of 'addictive' Literacy, aiming to raise standards
while boosting pupil enjoyment of this curriculum area. I have created new planners which have been embraced by all
members of staff leading to Literacy being delivered in more meaningful ways within my school, leading to improved
results in PIE scores.

8. EXPERIENCE OF CURRICULUM PLANNING OR ASSESSMENT

Please detail your role in developing, implementing and monitoring curriculum planning or assessment. Identify key
stage(s).
When the current curriculum was first introduced, I joined Senior management to revise and develop Literacy and
Numeracy planning and assessment. I was tasked with revising planners and yearly overviews, ensuring attainment
targets outlined in the Curriculum Framework were met. I acted as advisor to KS2 teachers during the editing process
and led KS1 revision. As a result of contributions, I was made Literacy Co-ordinator and continue to find ways of raising
standards.
I am responsible for the administration of Assessment Units and track pupil progress and monitor year group
performance. Through analysis of pupil performance, targets are set for following years and areas requiring attention
for given year groups are outlined. Within my own class, I create class assessments in Literacy, Numeracy and other
subjects on a half-termly basis to inform teaching and planning. The results are discussed with pupils to maximise
future learning and can be referred to when discussing pupil progress with parents or school leadership. AFL is utilised
to ensure children have a solid understanding of their performance and are aware of targets which will lead to their
development across subject areas. This awareness of targets challenges pupils to achieve throughout the academic
year.

9. VISION FOR THE SCHOOL

Please outline your vision for this school.
My vision for St. Paul's Primary School is to promote Catholic faith in a way which allows pupils to grow holistically.
My personal philosophy is that every child should love to learn and learn to love. I aim to engender a genuine love and
understanding of Catholic faith in order to help children know God and therefore, themselves more clearly. By creating
such a school ethos, children should feel valued and make meaningful contributions to school life. Children come to
understand the potential of their contributions and will feel empowered to make contributions to their community. I would
aim to deliver a well-rounded education which inspires children and makes them aware of their abilities. Children should
be encouraged to be evaluative and use their God given talents in order to be fulfilled and reach their greatest potential.
Pupil voice is an area I am very passionate about and I would intend to promote this effectively within St. Paul's. Many
initiatives are tokenistic in Primary Schools. Voices of children should be heard more clearly by staff and the wider
community. Only through involving pupils in change can they truly value and appreciate the school in which they work.

10. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Please provide any other information which you feel is relevant to your application
My experiences to date have moulded me into a superb classroom practitioner and outstanding role model for children.
Positive relationships formed with pupils is something I am proud of. Children have a superb learning environment, but
are inspired to achieve their potential, led by my example and words of encouragement. Such inspiration extends to
fellow members of staff who know me as friendly, approachable and professional. Determination for children to succeed
in life and to chase their dreams is the ethos at the heart of my classroom. I run a Performing Arts School, catering for
80 pupils, boosting self-esteem and confidence with great passion. It is a journey I crave and will never tire of taking with
children. I am part of an Amateur Dramatic Society and my love of the Arts can enhance the positive environment and
reputation of St. Paul's.
