The Global Construction Companys upgrade from its client-based project management application, Primavera Project Planner (P3), to Primavera P6 Enterprise edition, was
catalyzed by a contract to build a major nuclear facility. This large, complex government
assignment required enterprise-class project management capabilities and the ability to
synchronize cost, schedule, and historical data from several sources.
Throughout our industry, the upgrade path to the new version of Primavera P6 was
known to be rocky, at best, said the Global Construction Companys manager of Central
Scheduling. But we knew that the nuclear facility project would require data migration

from the other required sources, which ranged from internally developed legacy applications, Deltek Cobra, Deltek wInsight and a procurement application. Archived and
legacy nancial data also had to be imported, validated, and synchronized.
