1. COURSE BEGINNING AND ACCOMMODATION PROCEDURE

The III Arabic Codicology Summer Course will take place here:

Resident students and Grant holders are expected to take advantage of their
accommodation and meals in San Lorenzo de El Escorial (from now on, SLDEE), in the
same venue, during the course time.
The best moment to arrive at SLDEE is on Sunday, 17th July (the day before the course
begins) in the afternoon. To arrange the accommodation issues, students should
attend the Secretary of Students, sited also in Eurofrum Palacio de los Infantes,
between 17.00 and 19.00 h. They may also arrive on 18th July in the morning with the
free bus service (please, see below) and arrange these issues before the first session of
the course from 9.00am on Monday 18th. Our course starts at 10.30pm.
On Friday 22nd July, all students are required to leave their rooms before 12.00 h.
There will be spaces for keeping the luggage in the Eurofrum Palacio de los Infantes.
All the students and staff are required to leave the Eurofrum with their belongings
before 16.00h.
Guest students are expected to manage their own accommodation. In case they decide
to stay in Madrid during the course time, they can take advantage of the daily free bus
service for Complutense Summer course attendees. On Sunday 17th July, this bus has a
schedule trip every half an hour starting at 16.00h and finishing at 21.00 h to arrive
from Madrid to SLDEE. For more information about this service from Monday to
Friday, see below.

2. TRANSPORT
2.1. AIRPORT - MADRID
Those students who came from abroad will probably arrive at Madrid-Barajas airport.
For arriving from the airport to the city centre, students may choose among these
options to get the stations of Atocha or Chamartn (from where they can later go to
SLDEE):

Taxi: the standard taxi price from the airport to the city centre is 30 .
Bus: Those students who arrive at Airport terminal number 4 (T4) may use the "Exprs
aeropuerto" bus service, that costs 5. It leaves from T4 and arrives in Atocha.
Metro service may bring students both to Atocha and Chamartn stations:
Airport Atocha
Line 8 (Pink) transfer in Nuevos Ministerios station to Line 10 (Dark blue) transfer in
Tribunal station to Line 1 (Light blue) arrive at Atocha station.
Airport Chamartn
Line 8 (Pink) transfer in Nuevos Ministerios station to Line 10 (Dark blue) arrive at
Chamartn station.

2.2. MADRID - SLDEE

A taxi from Madrid to SLDEE is too expensive (almost 100 ) and there is not a Metro
service to SLDEE. However, there is a public interurban bus service from Moncloa
station, that provides an excellent service and is the most recommendable option. The
interurban bus number that should be taken from Moncloa is 664. Its price is 4.20
and the trip takes 55 minutes approximately. SLDEE is the last stop. A map to Moncloa

Please, note that this is the official schedule but it may change in special
circumstances.

Free bus service

As mentioned before, there is a free bus service for course attendants, departing from
the corner of Calle Fernndez de los Ros and Calle Isaac Peral every day from Monday
to Friday at 8.30 h. It goes back from SLDEE to Madrid at 19.15 h departing from
Eurofrum Palacio de los Infantes.

3. COURSE TIME
During the course time, all students are allowed to use the computers with Internet
access in the Complutense headquarters.
They are also invited to attend the free time activities, including conferences, concerts
and cinema, after finishing daily class. We invite you to visit our web for more
