Director, Health Economics and Outcomes Research/Epidemiology
Design and conduct state-of-the-art HEOR research, epidemiological/scientific consulting operations related to
epidemiology in the biopharmaceutical industry, study concepts, design, development, implementation, data
collection/management, statistics, reporting, and software. Craft analyses and communication strategies directed at
scientists, regulators, patients, and providers using print, web, and emerging media.
Accomplishments:
Served as Lead Investigator to design/conduct epidemiological study of effect of morphine on PTSD onset in
wounded U.S. military, using large database of pharmacologic data and PTSD outcomes. Published ground
breaking article in The New England Journal of Medicine with press releases in New York Times, Washington
Post, and Los Angeles Times, leading to new project valued at $10M over 10 years.
Conceptualized, designed, and developed Wounded Warrior Recovery Project (WWRP), large-scale project to
follow wounded warriors over time for health outcomes; served as project director and principal investigator for
project with 10-year funding of $10M+ from U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). Developed human subject
protocol, data collection, and field deployment, as well as WWRP website.
Invited to provide expert testimony before Congressional Committee on Veterans Affairs Roundtable
discussion regarding PTSD rates in U.S. military as result of public acclaim for epidemiological study
conducted on effect of morphine on PTSD onset. Testimony supported discussion on use of morphine for
prevention and congressional mandates to support research and development in field.
Received national recognition and endorsement by Assistant Secretary of Defense for landmark research
advances; invited as key scientific contributor and speaker to 2011 Military Health System Conference: MHS
Contributions to Advancement of Health Sciences Research Symposium.

Authored 85+ peer-reviewed publications in leading journals based on award of two multi-million NIH grants to
study short- and long-term recovery and health outcomes after injury in two large civilian populations. Two
articles chosen for cover of Journal of Trauma, leading trauma and surgical journal and conducted 100+
presentations at formal scientific conferences with DoD and NIH clients.

of Trauma and Western Trauma Association.
Contributed significantly to educational mission of institution through teaching and graduate student
advisement; taught core epidemiology course and served as course coordinator for core review sessions and
final exams. Also taught 20 doctoral candidates and served on various committees.
