Introduction

Daffodil International University (DIU) is recognized in independent government

assessments as one of top graded universities in Bangladesh. The university has
been founded by Daffodil Group with the approval of the Ministry of Education under
the Private University Act of 1992 and its amendment in 1998 and Daffodil
International University came into being on 24th January 2002, the University today
combines impressive modern facilities and a dynamic approach to teaching and
research with its proud heritage of service and achievement.
To be among the very best in Bangladesh which is the most challenging goal, has
been set for the university. This has done so because it is only through working we
can achieve the very highest level of standards in curriculum, teaching, faculties

Daffodil International Universitys mission is defined by its IT-based traditions of

The University has paid the highest priority to resource allocation to graduate and

The University provides Masters Programs in the areas of need and importance to

of the services of the university. As research is essential to the mission of an ITbased university, Daffodil International University is preparing to develop its
research programs. The primary focus of this research is to be directed to the
solution of problems and the development of knowledge and technology important
to the nation and to the quality of life of Bangladeshi citizens. The universitys
research programs are designed to make important contributions to instructional
programs through the involvement of graduate and postgraduate students and the
renewal of the faculty. Research will also provide the knowledge based for outreach
programs.
Extension and outreach programs are fundamental to the IT-based mission because
these programs somehow directly affect the lives of the entire world. The University
is maintaining the strengths of its traditional outreach programs and increasingly
involves the broader university in outreach programs that respond to the changing

This is a noticeable encouragement for the university observing the rapid growth of
the university. The university has been started with 67 students registering in the
first batch and within 8 years, more than 10,000 students have been enrolled so far.
DIU is committed to provide standard education with all sorts of facilities to the

Permanent Campus:
Academic activities and students enrollment have already been started at the
permanent campus project. The construction will be implemented in four phases
and it will have separate academic and administrative infrastructures, residential
hall for both students and faculty members, library, Cafeteria, TSC, auditorium,
playground, swimming pool, prayer hall, transport pool, gymnasium, departmental
faculty, research center and an ICT center. The permanent campus will be consisting
of modern facilities for lectures, meetings, group activities, student organizations
social and religious festivals. It will be fully equipped with medical facilities,
computer, Science and technological laboratories, performance spaces and many
more. DIU envisages turning the campus into Fiber Optic Network and WIFI enabled
zone. For ensuring all sorts of facilities there will be on-campus shopping facility.
The site for the permanent campus of DIU is situated on about 24.5 acres of land at
ASHULIA in the serene, calm and quiet, green and open atmosphere and is free from
the hustle and bustle of the city. It will be the largest campus in private universities.
The classrooms are fully equipped with state of the art technology.

Quality Education: DIU is specially committed to quality education. Quality is

ensured through regular classes, strict examinations and other academic and
administrative measures.

One student one laptop

With the motto of using technology for transforming education, Daffodil
International University (DIU) set out a project named One Student: One Laptop
with a view to providing every student with one free laptop. For this, DIU received
logistic and technical supports from another sister concern of Daffodil Group -Daffodil Computers Limited (DCL). In this regard DIU signed an agreement with DCL
on 08 July 2011. The technological partnership between the two institutions has
fulfilled DIUs dream to bring technology to the doorsteps of all its students. Under
the agreement, DCL is to provide Daffodil PC laptops to the students of DIU with all
related services.
Daffodil International University takes pride in being pioneer in initializing the theme
of One Student One Laptop in the history of private universities in Bangladesh. DIU
started distributing Daffodil PC laptops among the students from 2nd February
2011. A student, named, Ms. Tanjida Akhter from the Department of CSE was the
first Daffodil PC laptop recipient.

Every student admitted into Daffodil International University from Summer

Semester-2010 and onward is getting a Laptop at free of cost. The Laptop will help
the students to equip themselves with proper technical knowledge so that they can
survive and secure respectable place in the society. Through this initiative DIU
students will get the opportunity to implement digital Bangladesh concept.

Transport facilities
Daffodil International University has added four new buses in its transport pool to
provide transport facilities for the students, teachers and employees. The buses are
running in the following routes as given time schedule every day. Interested
students, teachers and employees are avail the opportunity from distant area to
their respective campuses through these transport.

DIU Debating Club (DIUDC) became Champion at the Grand final of the National
Debate Championship 2011 organized by the Jahangirnagar University Debate
Organization.
Hostel Facility: DIU provides hostel facilities to its students with home
environment. DIU ensures clean, spacious, safe and healthy environment for the
students in the hostel.
Gymnasium: DIU has established a large gymnasium in the campus. The
gymnasium is furnished with modern equipment. Students can take exercise here
for their good health
One stop services: To solve the problems of students and to make a friendly
educational environment in campus DIU started one stop services. Where every
student can get the solution of multiple problems from one booth
Religious Events: DIU observes all religious programs and arranges various
religious events (iftar party, Miladunnabi, Sarwaswati puja, X-mass, for example) in
the campus. It develops a brotherhood among the students and teachers in the
campus and outside the campus as well.
Special counseling for weaker students: If it is identified that few students are
not getting marks up to satisfactory level, DIU faculty members support them,
especially to improve their performance.
Freshers Welcome: DIU receives its future Leaders and Scholars with a warm and
fresh welcome through Orientation program. DIU treats all students as its asset and
from the first day at campus DIU ensures all their necessary things.
DIU Medical Center: DIU established a Medical Center in the Campus for the
health care of DIU students. DIU students are able to get free treatment from DIU
Medical Center. DIU believes good health is the foundation of progress.
Career Development Center (CDC): CDC is performing a pivotal role to ensure
job and internship placement for the students of Daffodil International University.
CDC is also responsible for arranging workshop, training programs, seminar,
symposium, job fair in intra-university and inter-university level on regular basis for
the professional development of students.

Online Teachers Evaluation: In DIU, all the students evaluate their course
teachers from anywhere from online. It is a compulsory process. Online evaluation
ensures transparency of the evaluation. Teachers feel accountability to enhance
their status so that they can get good marking from the students part. Ultimately,
this process increases quality education.
Events: DIU arranges business festivals, education fair, project fair, programming
competition, film festival, business talk show, debate competition, photo exhibition
etc. on a regular basis in & outside campus. Purpose of it is to make the students
best fit in job market through practical knowledge & familiar with various education

E-Library: DIU has introduced E-library for its students. Any DIU student is able to
be registered in e-library. All registered students may get international reference
books as well as local books through internet. DIU library is rich with printed books,
e-books and journals. DIU takes pride for making a serene place for acquiring
knowledge for students, who build their academic carrier and develop themselves
for spreading the light of knowledge. It offers good facilities of reading.

Student Accommodation: DIU has arrangement of residence for female students.

The accommodation provided upon requirements of the female students. DIU
ensures comfortable stay, well environment and security in the resident.
Auditorium: An auditorium with the facility of modern audio-visual equipments
has been constructed in the main campus of DIU having sitting arrangement of
almost 500 people. The auditorium is regularly used to conduct all seminars,
symposium, cultural programs and many other co-curricular programs.

Lab facilities: The laboratories of DIU are considered as the country's best. There
are digital labs in all departments. Departments under the Faculty of Science and
Information Technology have their own specialized laboratories for practical.
Virtual University: DIU is fully automated and all its activities are done or
recorded in the Virtual University. Every student and guardian can see any
information relating to payment, admission, results, course offering and others.

Green Campus
DIU Green Campus is a movement, the first of its kind in Bangladesh, which was
launched in 2002 by the Daffodil International University (DIU). The initiatives of this
movement are an important campaign to shape up our university as a model

responsible behavior by all stakeholders go hand in hand. This movement aims to
