No matter how hard Awami league tries to deny, a strong presence of a Right wing riligious lobby

within its leadership rank becoming more and more visible. It is happening at a time when a war on
terror is approaching towards Bangladesh. It is just a matter of time. Months perhaps a year or two.
And all those frightening concerns about radicalism our society tried to avoid for years will be upon
us.
The radical forces are openly gathering together a ruthless army of terror for many years and they
are closing in step by step- preparing to unleash the horror at full force once they gain enough
momentum. Even now, everyday we are coming across the devotees of the violent forces of the
religious extremism. This is just the beginning. And I'm certain that Awami League will not be able
to hold back the hordes of extremist madrasa students. Certainly not under the current leadership
team or current policies.
For years the vast majority of our secular society thanked awami League. Awami league was our
sanctuary, our lifeline, our identity, our source of inspiration and political romanticism.
We were sheltered inside her, we walked with her, fought in the battle with her side by side, we
echoed each others thoughts and opinions, to save ourselves from the cruelty of barbaric Pakistanis,
from the evil dictators, and from the bloodthirsty brainwashed forces of fundamentalism.
Awami league was the greatest sanctuary we ever had, she was the greatest poetry we have ever
written. She was our soul, life, freedom, identity and our greatest romance.
The sounds we hear from the awami league leaders now ( The likes of asaduzzaman Khan) raises
alarm bell to many like us-we hear the heavy breathing of fundamentalism and terror, we hear the
sounds of a drank-snoring Awami league captivated and ideologically cleaned out by the
opportunists.
Apparently, Awami League has become one of the victims. The glorious past stories of the party
appears to have just become a talking point or more like a crippled soldier unable to draw her
sword.
