VOCABULARY OF: "IS THE LAUGHTER THE BEST MEDICINE?"

Recount. - To tell somebody about something, especially something that you have
experienced.
Undertake. To undertake something to make yourself responsible for something and
start doing it.
Self-healing. - Self-healing is a phrase applied to the process of recovery (generally from
psychological disturbances, trauma, etc.), motivated by and directed by the patient,
guided often only by instinct. Self-regenerative.
Heal. - To become healthy again; to make something healthy again.
Theorize (about/on something)/theorize something/ theorize that to suggest facts
and ideas to explain something; to form a theory or theories about something.
Achieve something. - To succeed in reaching a particular goal, status or standard,
especially by making an effort for a long time.
Sneak + adv. /prep. - To go somewhere secretly, trying to avoid being seen.
Suppress something. - To prevent something from being published or made known.
Syn. To eliminate.
Sitcom. - A regular program on television that shows the same characters in different
amusing situations.
Mislead somebody (about something)/ mislead somebody (into doing something). - To
give somebody the wrong idea or impression and make them believe something that is
not true.
Crack up. To laugh unrestrainedly.

VOCABULARY OF WHAT MAKES US LAUGH?

Laugh. - To make the sounds and movements of your face that show you are happy or
think something is funny.
Superiority. The Behavior that shows that you think you are better than other people.
Bring about. To make something happen.
Incongruity. - The fact of being strange and not suitable in a situation. Syn. inappropriateness.
Arise (out of/from something) (rather formal). - To happen as a result of a particular
situation.
Head off to. - To go to.
Punch line.-The last few words of a joke that make it funny. The final phrase or
sentence of a joke or story, providing the humor or some other crucial element.
Relief (from/of something). - The act of removing or reducing pain, anxiety, etc. the
feeling of happiness that you have when something unpleasant stops or does not
happen.
Restraint (on somebody/something). - A rule, a fact, an idea, etc. that limits or controls
what people can do.
Release.- the feeling that you are free from pain, anxiety or some other unpleasant
feeling
Cleanse somebody (of/from something) (literary).-To take away somebodys guilty
feelings or sin.
Cope.-To deal successfully with something difficult.
Detach yourself (from somebody/something) (formal). - To leave or separate yourself
from somebody/something.
Evoke something (formal). - To bring a feeling, a memory or an image into your mind.
Paperboy.- a boy who delivers newspapers to peoples houses
Driving rage.-a place where people can practice hitting golf balls.
Poll somebody.-to ask a large number of members of the public what they think about
something.
Ward. - A separate room or area in a hospital for people with the same type of medical
condition.
Arrange for someone. - To make preparations so that

Sip.-a very small amount of a drink that you take into your mouth.
