LEARN MASSAGE (PINDOT SARAP ) IN TEN (10) EASY STEPS

Teacher’s Note: Pindot Sarap is a Filipino form of Shiatsu that is duly


accredited and approved by the Department of Health (DOH Accreditation
No. 01-10-0006). Learning it is both easy and fun.

Just follow the simple steps below and you will be well on your way towards
making your client (and yourself, too) both happy and healthy.

Things needed:
1. A small towel
2. An alcohol
3. Comfortable massage bed/chair

1 – Self Preparation

*Wear loose, comfortable clothing


*Wash hands either through soap and water or alcohol
*Do some deep breathing

2- Client Preparation

*Introduce the hand-sign


*Make sure that client has no indication of illness
*Make client comfortable

3- Plan Your Approach

*Note pressure points by three


*Work only on fleshy areas
*Start from the back, top to bottom

4- Applying Thumb Pressure

*Press and release gradually


*Linger for at least three seconds for each regular point; six seconds for each
last point
*Lighly rotate the area being work on after pressing

5 – Other Things to Consider

*Be watchful for any sign of discomfort on the part of client


*Take notice of his/her hand signals or body language
*Adjust pressure accordingly

6- Observe Proper Body Mechanics/Breathing


*Stand erect, relax shoulder and arms, breath slowly
*Slightly move back and forth as pressure is applied
*Maintain a comfortable distance from client

7- OCCASIONALLY ASK FOR FEEDBACK

*Immediately ask for feedback upon initial contact


*Encourage the use of hand-sign
*Adjust pressure accordingly

8-ACCOMPLISH YOUR PLAN

*Stick to your sequence


*A miminum of two (2) repetitions is acceptable
*Be consistent

9-COOL DOWN YOUR CLIENT

*Advise your client once the session is over


*Ask him/her to be still and relax for a minute or two
*Tap, smile and gesture to hime/her once the time is up

10- PROVIDE AND AFTER CARE

*Give some practical health tips


*Encourage your client to visit spa more often
*Thank him/her for such a wonderful experience
